Hey everyone, I have been away from DPC over a year now and finally started participating again.
Well, it looks like I am in the same boat as before. So, I am just asking some suggestions on where this photo went wrong.
I realize it is a free study and those are always tough. I am guessing it was the subject matter, too little plain and boring. But please speak up, looking to improve.
And be as harsh as you want; I don't mind the criticism.

Side note: The one thing that did make me chuckle was the one comment. It said amazing shot...but average vote of commenters 4.0.
Ah. But it really did put a smile on my face.

I gave you a 6 because I like the subtlety. I've seen that commentor do that on other pictures, too. Give a very positive comment along with a 4. Unless it's a bug with the commentor average. I've seen that before, too.

that commentor avg has got to be a bug.... Denielle was the commentor and usually you can tell how she voted by the comment given.

For me, the clouds over the relatively small house wholly take over the scene and draw they eyes up away from your intended subject. If the clouds were less interesting(look at all those shapes up there...) or no clouds, this might have been better, IMO. Also, with all the negative space, the house might have done better being on the right vertical third as well as the lower third line instead of being centered.

i am a total newbie in here but to my eye the house seems quite plain compared to the eye catching cloud formation....still a good picture nonetheless
