Hey guys and gals I need some help.

I have a CANON EOS 7d and a lens that I need to sell. I've tried Ebay and sites like that to sell that thing but even undercutting everyone by about $150-250 I still can't sell it.

In your experience what is the best place to sell yours camera gear?

You could try the sell forum at fredmiranda.com. You have to pay to sell but you will probably sell it quick. Also dont try to undercut. If you are too cheap, people may shy away in fear of a scam.

If you pay for membership then there is a buy/sell forum right here :-)

I buy and sell a lot of equipment....the buy/sell here has moved very little if anything I've listed here. Fredmiranda.com is the place to buy and sell.

I've found ebay a strange place to sell. I see the same items going from crazy different prices, one moving, the other not. Both sellers with excellent ratings. I don't know what the differences are EXCEPT maybe that one seller starts really really low and it just naturally moves up to the reasonable selling level whereas the other starts it off at what he/she wants and it doesn't move.

I once sold a lens but before it started moving got a message from a buyer saying "When this doesn't sell for X amount, I'll buy it for (Insert stupidly low price)." which pissed me off...but the lens sold. The ebay fees and Paypal fees suck...I am trying to learn Yahoo Auction in Japanese (That's how most people buy/sell in Japan online) and the fees are low with many living close enough to do pick ups/meet ups.

As Matt said, fredmiranda.com seems like a good place to sell. People know what your stuff is worth. I haven't sold anything there but plan to soon.

there are too many tricks with eBay i found is to start low and be confidant that it will sell high. you need to end your auction at the right time (on a Friday or Saturday evening after people have had drinks and will compulsory buy). plus offer free shipping.

a photography forum is much more layed back and the buyers come to you. you can set the price and drop it if it doesn't move.

nothing wrong with listing here, but it doesn't get quite the exposure that Fred Miranda gets.

Funny how people can have different experiences. I have had great success buying and mostly selling equipment here at DPC over the years. I have always thought I would try fredmiranda if it became necessary, but it never has... and I always find it hard to learn the way things work at a new site.

I've had a lot of eBay experience but I never would purchase photo equipment there, just me.

I have purchased most of my photo gear here...I have never sold. So far I have had nothing but good experience.
