I am ready for rollover

i had taken a bunch random places with just moving the camera around and shooting from any angle and hand-held position i could imagine, then today i had my wife pick me up and i snapped photos from the car on the way home. not once did i look where i was taking photos. i hope i got some fun ones!
i plan on basically submitting this with minimal editing aside from a border and resizing.

i have been throwing the camera on burst and just randomly shooting without looking, do i need fire off 100 in succession or just choose the best out of 100?

Don't think I'll be entering this (am sticking to my 1 entry a month lol).

Still not sure how I'll be voting and think I need to think about it but this type of shot would be good imo

strap was across my shoulde, cam on my hip and a wired shutter cable in my pocket and just snapped away :)

@ Giles and others who mentioned the 100 image part - I agree with others that this is more of a photographer exercise than for the vote and doubt the SC will be asking the top 5 entries to submit 100 originals ;) more of a 'spirit' of the challenge maybe?

Ok Lynn .... Sigh. Tomorrow morning ....

Yep, shooting's done, now just to pick the 'best' one.

As a suggestion - if anyone/everyone reads it - can we PLEASE assume that EVERYONE followed the spirit of the challenge?

I know I did. Shut my eyes after I entered the vehicle (no, I wasn't driving). Honestly kept them shut while a friend tried to get me lost. Trying to get me lost didn't work for a while, but I told them this. Drove around doing lots of u-turns until I really was thoroughly lost. Dismounted vehicle and was led by the arm while taking random shots (sucks when your friend doesn't tell you about steps). Did have the camera on autofocus, so mostly waited for the 'beep' then clicked. Took lots of crap photos. Took a few good ones that I would never have taken under any other circumstances. Will enter one. Had lots of fun. All in the spirit of the challenge. All with eyes firmly shut.

Entered what I think is a really cool photo that was snapped while I looked away at scenery. Autofocus did its job superbly. Resized and submitted as is. No nothing else done to it.

Whose idea was this anyway ?

I'm going to enter, probably regret it though, but I know how I will vote. Those photos that look technically superb will get 1-5, and the OOF noisey blurry shots, 6-10 ....let the fun begin.

...I have to say, that's just not right. I personally have snagged some not so bad, technically (im)perfect shots and I followed the spirit of the challenge to the letter. If votes are definitely going to be lower for stuff like that, I may as well not enter. The challenge description says 'submit the most interesting one'. Not the blurriest or most out of focus one.

Lol I was joking you haven't known me long enough.

Sorry mate, written words sometimes don't convey these things as intended. <hackles down> :)

I will vote on this one as if everybody's shot was done blind, so it will be like a blind FS, it will be very intresting to see how shooting blind changed people's style and to what extent.

"....let the fun begin."

Oh yeah - sounds like a blast. Sigh...

I was narrowing down my selection and looking to submit a photo after work today, now I'm having second thoughts (which is unusual for me regarding DPC). Unfortunately, I think voting is going to be all over the board on this one, and the forum "conversations", once voting has started, will border on chaos (more so than usual, LOL).

Just entered, this was fun. I am guessing there will be lots of contenders for the sigma prize.

i didn't even crop mine, all i did was adjust the level curve.

Ok, so you were joking. Understood. But, most cameras will expose correctly and capture images in focus without human intervention. Motion blur from waving the camera around is a technique, but that is a choice made by the photographer independent from closing the eyes. Setting the camera to manual focus is also a technique, but that is also a choice independent from eyes closed. What I am saying is OOF blurry shots are not necessarily indicators of eyes closed. They may be interesting images, but so may images in focus with proper exposure. Effectiveness of images will be dependent on the serendipitous subject(s) captured and how they are ultimately presented.

I found it to be a good exercise in the skill that does not get frequently brought up in discussion: recognizing the images from a session that have potential and then choosing the strongest from among them.

+1 Excellent point. Oh, the dilemma of choosing best photograph vs. image which will score best. We discover what we are about, don't we?

Which is not easy... I've gone back and forth between a few images... submitting them, then changing it again... I think I'm settled now.

My method of closing my eyes was taking a long drive with a patient driver and clicking like mad without really looking at what I was clicking at. I couldn't cheat even if I wanted to because everything was whizzing past like crazy. The person driving really though I had gone mad.
