not to split hairs, but you are still putting yourself in a "photogenic" area (as you posted earlier "I was out where I wanted to be")
the only way to really do this challenge, if serendipity (and luck) is the goal, is to have someone drive you blindfolded to an undisclosed location, hand you you the camera, and pop off 100 shots while still unable to see what you are looking at.

No, actually it wasn't a photogenic area, but it's an area with lots of people, lines, etc. It's not like going to a beach and sunset and turning around until you get the sunset perfectly lined up with eyes closed. It was a place that had people, had lines, had colors, so that if I turned around and moved a little with my eyes closed I had a chance at getting something strange.
This challenge won't work well just anywhere. If I went out on a wooded path, I probably wouldn't get as many interesting shots as in a metropolitan area. |

If you take a picture of yourself photographing yourself (using a mirror), and if in that pictures it's clearly that your eyes are open while you taking the picture, I guess you'll get DNMC.
(but if one will wear the blind monkey suite while doing so, I guess it'll be OK) |

For what it's worth, I've been having great success with hand-held HDRI images using burst mode and automatic bracketing. So since this is advanced editing (how strange!) one could theoretically do "blind HDRI" very effectively :-)

Doesn't have to be, the burst mode takes almost-instantaneous bracketed exposures, at least in bright light. Whatever tiny variations there are in framing are taken care of by the ghosting function in HDR Efex Pro.

This is with the 5D2; I've got a "C Function" on the dial dedicated to this; anytime I want an HDRI image I just turn the dial to C1 and hold the shutter button down. It would work fine on the tripod too, of course. What I'm finding that's gratifying is, I used to do all my HDR bracketing by hand, and there was a noticeable gap (a few seconds) between each exposure, which doesn't work well at ALL when there's people in the shot, or waves, anything moving. That's seeming not to be an issue in burst mode.

Thanks, that's interesting. I had problems with trees swaying in the wind. I have more or less decided to get 5D2 when I am back home soon. |

Just came back from 100 shots in the dark. It took me a few shots to really get into it, but once I let go of my inhibitions, it was really quite fun! I wound up walking around with my eyes closed & relied on  enlightened to warn me of any objects that might cause my, or worse, my camera's demise! She saved me from stepping into dog sssstuff, getting soaken wet & tried to warn me of a step...but I guess I wasn't paying attention & nearly wiped out. Managed to keep my camera from becoming a memory.
Took a quick look at the results- lots of misses! I was relieved at that... I think I'd be pretty upset if I took better photos with my eyes closed! I did get a couple that I'm happy with, just don't know if they look like my eyes were closed when I took them!!!

I took a ton of shots this weekend with my eyss closed. Most were crap but I found one that was actually a good shot. I hope everyone likes it.

| This is harder than I thought it would be. I've been carrying around my P&S the past few days, plus went on a walk with my DSLR - and I've got a few that are OK... but as stated before, I'm afraid my best ones will be considered too good for an "eyes closed" competition. |

I'm going to give this a crack tomorrow morning... I have an idea in mind that will be very hard to capture without actually looking through the viewfinder, so hopefully one of my 100 frames captures it!
I know that's not quite as good as having someone drive me blindfolded to an unknown location and have me snap away, but I don't think I have anyone willing to help me with this before work lol |

I discovered a new technique for candid shots. While walking the outdoor mall I held my iPhone in my hand with my arm down, in walking position. The camera was pointed behind me. I randomly snapped the pics while walking. Mostly the horizon is pretty level.

| not yet only about 30, there was frost this am and sticking your hand and camera out the car window at 50mph at 1000m above sea level is cold :) |
