No, not because your image is pretty darn good, BUT.....

After following the rules as described in the challenge?

Okay, I tried this project again. I didn't want to be a quitter. This time the results were better, or at least not as bad. So, it appears blind serendipity becomes more successful with practice. That epiphany has "opened my eyes" (figuratively). I'll enter one of my 100 images.

I went through a severe vertigo episode a a couple years ago. During this episode, I was unable to open my eyes due to the connection the brain makes using vision as a time/space reference. During this 24 hour period, I was forced to use my other senses to carry on. I wore a stocking cap over my eyes so I could keep my lids open but eliminate any visual stimulation. I was amazed at how much I could do with just hearing only. I plan on approaching this challenge the same way. Find a place to sit. Rely on ears and nose only, and wait. I'm sure something exciting will happen in time. At first I thought the challenge was a little out there, but after thinking about it, I think it may result in some very interesting images.

I'm thinking of having a friend drive me to an undetermined location blindfolded around 10 minutes away, and then leading me around as i take 100 photos in jpg. i'll use my ears and others senses to decide where to shoot, and hold the camera to my blindfolded eye to correct for the angle at least a bit... or to make it more comfortable for me. then i'll submit the photo without any post processing at all... i'll be extremely interested how the voting goes on this.. though we are supposed to vote with the assumption that the photo is within the ruleset, DNMC is DNMC either way. oh my!

I am on a campaign for more crap scores but ONLY with shots I like. I might give this one a go ;)

Dumber than taking a photo of keys?

and why is this advanced editing again?

I, on the other hand, will not enter unless I get one I could stand to see in my profile lineup since I finally got it to the point that I like all five images -- with my luck, this would be the challenge that would get me a high score :) But I sure think trying sounds like a good time and I plan to do so.

Huh?
Ya mean I should be shooting with my eyes open normally?
And would it mean that Blink 182 members could only submit every other shot?
;-)

So is a camera toss image in the spirit of the challenge?

good luck catching the camera with your eyes closed.

Only if you do it with your eyes closed. In which case it's unlikely that you'll catch the camera.

Uncanny. I swear my eyes were closed.

I'm going to try actually closing my eyes. If you shoot with your eyes open, you're still viewing the scene, just not through the camera. By viewing the scene, you're still deciding with your eyes what to shoot.

I like the idea of closing your eyes and listening and shooting with your other senses. Not letting your eyes get in the way of your shot. :)

not to split hairs, but you are still putting yourself in a "photogenic" area (as you posted earlier "I was out where I wanted to be")

the only way to really do this challenge, if serendipity (and luck) is the goal, is to have someone drive you blindfolded to an undisclosed location, hand you you the camera, and pop off 100 shots while still unable to see what you are looking at.

-m

ooops... just notices that mrchhas suggested the same thing above...

Whether it's the "only way" or not is arguable. But damn, I like that idea even better.

Why not borrow a monkey and let it take the shots? Or strap a camera to a radio controlled squirrel and have it take the shots by shaking?

So what you are saying, is that if I'll dress up with my blind monkey costume before going out to the blind photo frenzy, that will help me not getting DNMC?

How can you have DNMC in this challenge??

If you take a picture of yourself photographing yourself (using a mirror), and if in that pictures it's clearly that your eyes are open while you taking the picture, I guess you'll get DNMC.
(but if one will wear the blind monkey suite while doing so, I guess it'll be OK)
