Well I'm trying something new to myself. I captured and got lucky yesterday. I'm not sure how the street shoot will be scored here. Any inputs will do.. ?

8, maybe even up to a 10 if you made the man in robes stand out more... great shot :)
eta: also, the rail in the front is a little distracting, so maybe toning that down too could help

9 from me,I love street photography...great framing make the photo more impressive but the moment is more important.

I'd give it a 9 or 10--- the framing and moment are great though the highlights seem a bit bright in the white bar above him and they are drawing my attention away from the man. Either way you captured the moment excellently and:

Eta: fix spelling

Bunch of thanks, you described it clearly.

Be a high score from me. Love the contrast and framing. Very nice.

This would definitely get a high vote from me too. I was going to try and think of some advice to give you but then I had a quick look at your profile to see if you’re a member (to suggest entering this type of shot in the free study) and then recognised many of your previous entries that had really impressed me. So I’m not going to give you any advice but I’d be more than grateful to receive some from you.

It is a very nice image, but if I was going to quibble I could see two things. The facings on the jacket you can see in the reflection ( or whatever those light grey vertical stalagmites 3/4 of the way on the right coming into the frame from the bottom are) lead the eye to no advantage, if you could tone those down so they didn't pull the eye out of the horizontal track of the railing and the underside of the car, it would flow better. second point is that the frame seems a but long on the right. I think the asymmetric balance works well here but a touch more crop to eliminate the partial figure on the edge of the frame would be to the good.

its really a fine shoot because the background of picture is dark and we see the lightning on targeting person 9 out of 10 because its difficult to capture these kind of pics.

The little walking man on the sign holds the whole thing together for me and makes me smile.
The crop sucks either go back to the full frame or take another 1/4 of the right.

I'd score it very highly, very envious I didn't take it.

hey Louie, good to see you back here!! How's things?

As for the pic...I'd straighten it, first off...but otherwise it's a great pic, the man standing perfectly still vs the walkingman sign is great. I'd give at least an 8.

10.

I love street. The photographer orchestrates the players and the stage dressing, and thereby creates theatre from the everyday. All done without directions of any kind, and all done in a heartbeat.

My favourite subset of street is where this observational orchestration results in a suggestion of something other than what is actually taking place. Your photograph, cropped 25% off the right as proposed by nick_hinch (whom I consider the best photographer ever at DPC), suggests an eastern temple: the aloof master and his eager disciples. The enlightened versus the aspirants.

The sign man depicted rushing towards the master is the religious or philosophical icon. I am The Way.

So top marks for the allegorical stuff.

Good street photography is also graphical. It uses light and dark, leading lines, natural frames and arbitrary divisions to energize the scene. Literally: to give it some spark and keep the viewer of the photograph from feeling settled and satisfied too easily. There’ll be tension. There’ll be cul-de-sacs thrown in the way of comprehension.

What there won’t be is immediate comfort for the viewer. In this theatre you can’t doze in your seat and sneak occasional peeks at your cellphone. You need to pay attention.

All sorts of ‘rules’ can sometimes be profitably subordinated to achieving a delicious visual conundrum: rule of turds, avoiding distractions, blah blah blah.

And with your picture you get top marks for the graphical dimension too.

That’s it. Nothing else matters. 'Photography' means little here; it's all about the photograph. So it’s 10 all round for you.

Here’s a few of my own efforts at the stuff I’ve discussed above. But having indulged myself by way of illustration, I’d have been bloody delighted to have taken yours, Louie. I do a lot of visual gimmicks (just can't resist it). Yours is probably a bit more substantial. Thank you!

He's not "back" :-( Someone resurrected the thread, but it's been 7 months since we've heard from Louie...

Aw, shame...love his stuff. He did PM me awhile back and he's pretty busy these days, so not too surprised.
