if the studio/model thing is a very possible thing, you guys need think of an idea or starting point. (other wise people are going to be standing around for a bit...) idk the thought came to mind.

May is a very very busy month for me. Two people at work are taking 3+ weeks of vacation and I have 2 trips planned (Pacific coast, and Idaho for my daughters high school graduation). I am afraid I am going to have o miss this one.

I won't be able to check out the studio until Tues. If it doesn't work out, we can shoot some models in Pioneer Square, that would be fun also. I'm sure I can bring a model or 2.

The Arboretum was my first thought for a meeting place before others came up with Pioneer Square. There really should be some nice blooms going and the waterfront boardwalk nearby also offers some shooting opportunities for not only plants, but wildlife including Great Blue Herons.
However, Pioneer Square isn't a bad place to meet either and would be better if it rains as well as would provide a place for grabbing a bite together possibly.

I will keep my eyes on this thread for what might develop with a model/studio. I could use that experience, but it doesn't sound like anything much will get done with several people trying to interact with a model all at once. So I may pass on this opportunity if it pans out...

I checked out the studio today, but still have to wait a day or two to see if it's available. It's real close to the sculpture park, 3 blocks away. I will pay for the rental and accept small donations, like $10, Which I will donate to

SDW. The hours will be 11am to 1pm, they open at 11. We can bring in our own lighting or rent a couple of strobes for $20.
The studio is about 20x20 with 18 foot ceiling, reception area and dressing room/bathroom. I'll post more info when I get a confirmation.

Ok, I have secured the Studio for May 6th, 11am to 1pm. Just 2 hours, Now about Pioneer Square, there is a Mariner game at 1:10 at Safeco Field, so parking would be impossible to get around Pioneer Square. But buses are free downdown and we could ride a bus down there or go to the Aurboretum instead also Sculpture Park is walking distance from the studio. I'll let you guys decide what to do after the studio. Don't worry about the cost of the studio, she's giving me a 2 hour rate which she normally doesn't do. No need to pay me back. Like I said before, just donate to

SDW if you want. But bring a model if you have one, I have several models lined up that I think you will like, both male and female.
Sunday will be free street parking around the studio. We can bring in our own lighting or rent from her for about $20, no pets

how did you work it out to only do 2 hrs. it says the min is 4... (thinking about attending the studio portion too.) Can i see the models available? lol i might want to use one with natural light...

Well done and very nice of you to setup the Studio Frank! The location is very close to both my home and office, so I will most likely be able to make it there. I can watch you guys flailing about for laughs whether I actually shoot anything myself or not ;)

Pioneer Square with baseball crowds really doesn't sound appealing. So maybe the Arboretum in the afternoon would be a better choice? As Frank suggested, the visitor's center there would be a good meeting place. Maybe those doing the studio shoot would want time to eat lunch before the Arboretum (or wherever)? If so, maybe 2:30 or 3:00 would be a good time to meet in the afternoon? Hope that wouldn't make the day run too late for some. Thoughts?

The owner is great, her name is Grace. She's giving me a DPC discount. Oh, this studio has lots of natural light also.
Here is the models so far. The girl on lower left is Brazilian, girl on upper right has dark hair now, I worked with her before.

I entered her in a challenge a while back

Her hair is now red/brown, she just starting out, as all the rest of the models. Kim is easy to work with.

Brent, do you know of a good restaurant, like between the studio and Arboretum for lunch? Some place we can jump into with a large group without making a reservation, we don't all have to sit together.

Well that time of day The Spaghetti Factory which is right down the street from the studio should be quick enough to get into. And they would definitely have a big enough table. I know it's a silly franchise for tourists, but it might work. If we want a place more "hip" the Black Bottle on First Avenue also near the studio would work too.
I'll put some more thought into places a drive away from the studio over the next couple of days. I ate at Cafe Flora right near the Arboretum today, and as a side to my lunch I had grits with smoked mozzarella cheese- how can you beat that?
