Yes, leap, but please make it look like you are not leaping, that is the style that scores high with me. If your limbs are up , flinging around, looking like you just leaped, expect a lower score. That said, very fun challenge to vote on, some amazing work in there.

+1 My point exactly. I really wish the challenge descrip had been a little clearer and not roped in the whole Leap Year thing too.

IMHO, any challenge that is supposed to be in the style of a particular photographer means that you are trying to get a shot that is clearly similar to their style (well duh) See challenges here - In the Style of Henri-Cartier Bresson, In the Style of Heiga (sp?), In the Style of jagar etc. All the ribboners and best shots clearly show that people actually bothered to study that person's style, and shoot within it. After all, Natsumi's style is not that difficult to emulate - ambient light, street/outdoors, lots of sense of place, an almost matter-of-fact leap/levitation that makes sense - though your subject will get a helluva workout while trying to keep a fairly relaxed body, face etc. That's the hard part!

So to echo caba, I gave out lower scores to flailing limbs/goofy faces. The stronger the effort to shoot in Natsumi's style, the higher the score.

I disagree. I did not enter, but I did try to educate myself before I voted, and I looked at many pages of the linked examples. Just went back to verify. I lost count of the shots that were indoors (June 3, 2011, May 30, 29, 25, 24, 23, 18, 2011 for a start), saw "leap" shots that did not qualify as making sense in my book (May 7, April 21, March 16 and others), and shots with little to no sense of place(May 26 is the most extreme). In addition I noticed a number of partial body shots. It was great fun to consider most of the entries and I would say that the majority of the entrants had, indeed, studied Natsumi's style in this respect.

Ok. Hoist on my own petard because I didn't go that far back into her archives. BFFD.

Is it me, or does it seem like this challenge is taking extremely long ?

Maybe it's just me.

What's wrong, Nicky? Did your score drop below 6.8?

Saw some great entries! Guess the hardest competition here is for the brown, but they've beaten all who didn't enter (like me).
