last time i remember something like this a bunch of people got kicked off the site for friend voting

Yeah, it's probably the same class/teacher that last year submitted about a dozen close up images of the same jewelry. All really awful.

didn't something similar happen in the weston challenge?
hopefully they won't vote 10s for their friends and low ball everyone else.

Good to know other people's scores are going down... I woke up to a fairly low score too.

From what I saw... there were quite a few AWESOME. pics in this challenge, some not-so-awesome entries, and some that... well... need I say more? Kinda glad I didn't enter this challenge... but it'll be fun voting! See you on the voting side. :)

But I don't care. I tried to do the jumping myself. The result was I almost killed myself, well, more like I almost seriously injured myself. My husband thought I was a lunatic as he saw me flying (falling) through the air. Made the mistake of trying to take a running leap off my front porch :O. That ended that for me. So someone volunteered for me which is very rare so I just had to enter anyway knowing it would not be received well because who knows when that certain someone would volunteer to model for me again. Good luck all. I woke up to a 5 and it has been dropping ever since.

I voted about half the challenge last night. Saw a lot I liked and a lot of people actually managed to nail the levitating look. If not for the previously mentioned small snapshots, my average cast would have probably been close to a 7.

I'd love to figure out a way of encouraging those kids with a real interest in photography to stick around DPC afterwards. Sounds like a good reason to comment.

I think it is kind of rude for a school to invade a community and hack it up like they did. Even though it is a public community, they should keep their learning in the classroom!

I don't know that I would agree. Classes have used DPC before and I think it is often done with the knowledge of the SC. Usually there are a handful of kids that have some real interest in photography. The rest are just taking an easy class.

Almost all the photo that look like a class of students are taken with the same camera, OLYMPUS IMAGING CORP.VR320,D725. And a couple with a Canon and one with a vid.

How can you tell ?

Right click on the thumbnails and view EXIF data. You have to have a program that lets you view the EXIF.

What program will do this with a Mac? (If anyone knows, please share, as I am still a noob when it comes to Mac).

Yup. Got a 1. :(

Seriously, though. 52 votes already? On a weird challenge? That's really bizarre!

There's also at least one group of developmentally-disabled young people that's here with the express approval of the administrators; they've participated frequently before, though I have not noticed them recently. There appear to be TWO different groups in this challenge, incidentally...

Not a bad start, but if the art challenge is any gauge, this will be a 5.1 by morning.

WOW, I fully expected to wake up to a score drop, instead I get a full point jump! This is so insanely far above my expectations for this challenge.

Wow, indeed. Mine has dropped a full point from 4 votes to 59 votes. You could get another personal best. Very nice.

Really wish that some people had actually looked at her work before entering wholly random shots that are wildly out of her style. Hers is very quiet and serene and matter-of-fact - I didn't see a single shot with her limbs flailing all over the place and hamming it up.

Take a leap into the air this week and capture it with your camera. In honor of both Leap Day and Natsumi Hayashi's great work.

LEAP! not levitate!!

eta.. both are ok!
