The Best of 2011 Challenge is now open for submissions! As a quick reminder, the 3 ribbon winners for this challenge will be given "Best of 2011 DPChallenge" camera straps showing their respective placement in the challenge.

To honor the event, we've upgraded the challenge submission form based on some feedback we received. Please let me know if you run up against any issues using it.

You may also notice a new button when posting in the forums or writing a comment. This was a side effect of upgrading the submission form and it allows you to more easily share photos from your portfolio. Same goes for it, if you notice any issues, please let me know.

ETA: Head over to //getsatisfaction.com/dpchallenge if you'd like to weigh in on what you think the site needs next.

Quite sweet. I had uploaded the photo I plan to use for "Best of" in December. What a breeze it was to submit it to the challenge. Worked great!

Worked after refresh.

The button worked for the submission and for the description within the submission, but didn't work for this post.

+1 I was going to say exactly the same!

For those still having issues, try clearing the cache - it worked for me.

I don't understand why it closes in 22 days, I mean no-one needs to shoot for it, just edit, right !

I guess it's more like look, look, look, look, look... then edit, edit... ;-)

Thank you Langdon! That new button makes the uploading a snap.

Wow, there are already entries into the challenge - time to get cracking:-)

or at least that's what I usually do.

Ahhhhhh I see Langdon, made a poll, hope you all vote for 1 week. Too long for 3 weeks I feel, I've been hanging out for this for a long time.
Thanks Langdon for the newer and quicker version of uploading photos, just awesome.

i love the way I upload now..Thanks Langdon!

Tried out the new way of uploading... Holy smokes! That is perfect!

Thanks, Langdon!

P.s. - As for the poll... I voted in the middle. Mainly because I just want to hurry it up a little so I can see what photos are submitted, but I know people have a TON of photos to look through and choose.

+1

Thinking of a photo to do, shoot and edit it in one week is much more complicated than searching and editing it and most of us already know which one they want to submit - there are 14 entries now!

im guessing the majority of us use some form of cataloguing software i.e aperture, lightroom that allow 1-5 star ratings, or iphoto or picasa which allow starring and flagging so should be easy to review the best of, i also for fb picked my 100 best images of the year before new year so already refined my catalogue down time to go pick :)

looking forward to this :)

I think I've had my image picked out and ready to go for a week or so, but I'm not at home so I can't post it. I didn't shoot a lot in 2011, just some at the beginning of the year, then nothing at all till December as I get back into photography as a hobby and not just something I do on vacation. I still may go back and see what else I have to tweak but I'm pretty happy with what I have. So I voted for a week.

What I like about this challenge is it forces the discipline of choosing one. I have gone through a process of review and selection this month. I've passed on the image which will score best at DPC and instead gone with the image I'm most proud of. One week of submission is ample for best of 2011, as we should now be working on capturing 2012 images.

What I don't get is why the poll runs until Feb 2nd...
01/19/2012 03:55:30 AM · #23
15 entries now. I second that one week is sufficient.

I'll bet the majority are just as disorganized as I am.
