Hey all DPC'ers.

Well, it's been awhile since I posted here but since I left I've followed my dreams to become a documentary photographer. I'm posting here because I just launched a Kickstarter page campaigning for a project that I'm planning to do in New Zealand early next year. The project is very important to me personally (If you watch the video you'll see why...also I apologize for showing a film camera in the video ;) ). So... I'd love for anyone curious to check it out and if you contribute to me reaching my goal I'm offering prints as rewards, so hopefully it's a decent deal. Just spreading the word, facebook, tweeting etc anything is totally appreciated.

In short the project I'm trying to do is a look into the city of Christchurch a year after the worst of the earthquakes that they've been going through. I just launched the page and am trying to get the word out so any help is totally appreciated. And if you're not into the idea, no worries and thanks for your time.

Hey all -

I thought I would bump this post once more just to see if anyone had an interest in the project I'm working on.
Would love to send some DPC'er some medium format prints from NZ. I've got 2 weeks left and just about $1100 to go.

Thanks for your time and hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and weekend for those of you not celebrating.

Why don't you apply for an art fund...I am not sure what the funding is like in both those countries but there are also departments that have project funding available especially in the arts area. It is a great project and one I think would help the people of Christchurch in the progress of recovery.

I have some friends living in C'church, if you want to interview them to get their perspective on how things have changed. (I'd have to ask them first)

Hey Judi,

I'd looked into funding, and I've gotten grants for previous projects I've done, but it's really tough to get photojournalism grants when you haven't made a single image for a project. I also wanted to see if I could get contributors who actively had an interest in the project as I wanted to do it. It's a cool process, seeing these people chip in and it brings a different dynamic to the project. Depending on how this goes, however, I may look into grants to get back there. Grants usually take 6-12 months to go through the pipeline as well, and well, I'm just hoping that by taking this more into my own hands I can get around bureaucracy as well.

And Heather - YES, the more connections I can make the better. If you want to email me or your friends to put us in touch please hit me up at peter@peterhoffmanphoto.com

I've been working on making contacts but only have certain outlets so the more people I can meet the better, I'm looking for any kinds of stories - those of drastic change and also those who may not have experienced much change. Once I get the fundraising done I will really spend most time before I leave building more contacts.

Thank you folks for taking a look!
- Peter
