If your not one of the high scoring, ribbon winning entrants here at DPC, I would like to direct you towards www.panachallenge.com
It seems they struggle with membership even though it's free. Perhaps the name Panachallenge throws people, but you can enter with any model camera.
If you are part of the top 25% here at DPC, Just stay away! Your too good! It's all I can do to get 5.5's here at DPC! ( Just kidding, you are all welcome )
Just doing my part to try and help a site that has helped me with a lot of positive feedback and guidance on many photo editing details.

That sounds cool. I sometimes enter at Eyefetch because I score better there and got a few 2nd and 3rd places. Of course the contests there may have only 15 people entered, but there's usually several different ones going. It's not as much fun as it can be here though.

Eyefetch....got it. I'll try to check it out! Thanks.

In addition to their famous Photoshop contests, worth1000.com also has photography contests (and writing, illustrating, and more).

ETA: But you know, what I love soo much about DPC is it's easy interface. For as long as I've come to this site, I've always loved the ease with which you can browse photos and challenges, past or present, users, favorites, portfolios...
//sorry, had to give a quick nod to Landon and Drew!

My nods to the DPC Administration as well, for all that they do! But.... I will admit that WWW.Panachallenge.com was the first site that made me think..."I can do that" and I simply am not ready to see them close shop. Although I hope I have time this weekend to implement some ideas for a street macro shot........ Ideas that will give me a solid 5.5! LOL!

I meet your criteria ... ;-)

However, I am leery of trying to devote more time elsewhere -- I can barely keep up over here ... but I will check them out anyway.

Just had a quick look. I guess the sentence "the home of free photography challenges and forums for Panasonic Lumix (and their Leica cousins) cameras." doesn't look as a very welcome to Canon, Nikon or whatever owners.

I just registered, but does not appear that there are any current challenges.

They run two parallel challenges, one open only to Panasonic cameras and one open to all makes and models.

I agree, this is by far the best site for photo competitions. Which is why I'm always lurking on here sucking down the bandwidth!

Thought I'd toss this one out again because their current challenge is a "Best OF 2012" Mid year..... Whatchya got buried in your files since Jan that you want to enter? I think there is still 10 days or so to enter if your interested!

I'd second that. I've spent a little time over there playing, off and on. Smaller crowd. Less drama. All challenges are free. Rule sets apply to size rather than methods, though you must disclose what you did to get your final image.

There are two groups for each challenge. One is for Panasonic/Leica cameras, the other is the open challenge for whatever you want to use. And, it's free...

Message for Panachallenge and other forums
Panachallenge High or Low Angle is under way.
"High or Low Angle Shot. This challenge is to get members to think of using a different angle when they find a subject to photograph. Changing the angle can lift a photo out of mediocrity. (See //users.rider.edu/~suler/photopsy/camera_angles.htm) High Angle: A high angle shows the subject from above, i.e. the camera is angled down towards the subject. This has the effect of diminishing the subject, making it appear less powerful, less significant or even submissive. Low Angle: A low angle shows the subject from below, giving it the impression of being more powerful or dominant. (Created by Mepo)"

Entry period: Sat 22 Sep through Thu 18 Oct 23:59:59 UTC
Voting: Fri 19 Oct through Mon 22 Oct 23:59:59 UTC

For more info, go to //www.panachallenge.com/challenge?challenge=144&f=f
Rules: //www.panachallenge.com/challenge/rules.php?f=f

A short synopsis of the rules are, Open Category any digital camera, that records EXIF data. Main category Panasonic Lumix, or the Leica variant. Images not larger than 1600 pixels height+width, 250K maximum file size, Editing details supplied with image, no borders or text. If your entry does not carry the EXIF info, then your original with the EXIF info must be submitted. Images must be taken during the challenge period (sound familiar?), and entries are validated by moderators before the voting starts. (No sadness at the end.)

Good luck!

This is an odd thread. It sleeps, wakes up, then sleeps again!

Because it is mainly here to drive people to another site.
