Here’s to the Crazy One.

The misfit. The rebel. The troublemaker. The round peg in the square hole.

The One Who Saw Things Differently.

He wasn't fond of rules. And he had no respect for the status quo.

You can quote him, disagree with him, glorify or vilify him. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore him. Because he changed things.

He pushed the human race forward. And while some may have seen him as the crazy one, we saw genius.

Because the man who was crazy enough to think he could change the world, was the one who did.

I was posting back and forth on DP Forums about the iPhone 4S screen size and just clicked over to Apple to get the full specs. When I got there, I saw a full page image of Steve and knew what happened ! My daughter then ran down the stairs and took a breath to say something.... before she spoke, I told her "I just saw it."

Just heard the news on a local radio station.

The original Apple Macintosh computer ad (1984 takeoff) still looms large in mind. That truly was the impact Apple had back then. They set out to change things and like it or not, they did, all thanks to Jobs and his vision.

ETA: Rest in peace SJ. You certainly had a unique impact on the world with the iPod, iPhone, and iPad!

I still remember my friends and I playing (and schoolwork) on the Apple IIe in early 1983. We were strapped for cash, but my mother saw that computers would be a big part of life and got us one.
We learned to code faster than our teacher at school and "edited" his game of Star Wars (all text game). The look on his face when he was playing it in class (we knew he would), then silently staring us down and then smiling. Still sticks with me.
"A giant f#%*ing Wookie rips off your head and s#%*s down your neck!" All due to Apple! :-)

RIP Steve Jobs. I have been a competitor over the years with microsoft powered machines....but he was very definately a visionary plus he has now increased our technology.

My boss just emailed this and I thought it was worth sharing...

A little excerpt from Steve Jobs' 2005 Stanford Commencement address:

Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure – these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

Thoughts on Apple and Steve Jobs.

My first computer, in 1980, was an Apple 11+, upgraded from 32K to 64K.
2 drives, one for the program, one for the work.
Simple programs, something for word processing, Visicalc for spreadsheets, something for artists.
I had a lightpen that addressed each and every pixel. (they were big pixels)
There was a modem (Hayes Micromodem) that could put words on the screen faster than I could type.
There was a peripheral 9-pin printer that could put words on paper. And ASKII made them (sort of) pretty.

The early days.

Early editions of Byte Magazine had Jobs and Gates clashing again and again.
There was a meeting that one of them blew off because he went flying. The rift widened.

Who won? both of them? neither of them?

Dang, I wish I had bought their stock.

Meanwhile, Steve Jobs created a new way of thinking.

He will be missed. His work will continue.

I doubt there are any of us out there who weren't touched in some way by Steve Jobs' genius. I'm remembering my first PC as a kid - one of the first Macintosh models on the market. Still have it as a memory - and maybe now a memorial.

It feels like a personal loss, doesn't it? May he rest in peace.
