Is there a way to save our photo so that there is minimal distortion when viewed on different web browsers? I have just noticed that some of my photos are very clear on some browsers, but on AOL and a couple others they are comming out distorted. What can we do to keep this from happening?

Some providers, such as MSN and AOL, offer their users an "Acceleration" feature, which recompresses images "on the fly" so they download faster over dial-up connections. They achieve this speed-up by throwing away fine detail in images, and this type of accelerator should be avoided at all cost when voting on images here at DPC.

This is so true.

I was at my Mom's house over the weekend and couldn't believe how horrible some of the entries (most of them actually) looked using AOL. Their acceleration features compress images to speed up how fast they load, especially if in the cache already.

UGH! Couldn't wait to get home and see things for real.
(on a side note, it did give me the opportunity to calibrate her monitor)
