Taken with a canon 30d for professional bulletin board and publication. How is this for lighting composition etc...

For me... (Please note that I have never done this nor do have any clue on how to do it)

I think that the background matches the shirt too closely. Other than that I think that the lighting is nice. No shadows.. No weird highlighted areas. I like the lighting but I just see the background as a bit distracting.

A couple of observations: most portraits are in, um, portrait orientation, not landscape. Also, she's very close to the background, so blurring that (and thus making it less prevalent), is much more difficult. Lighting is fine for corporate, but seems a bit bright around her head.

For corporate I am used to a white background. It has that "just the facts" feel. A bit of a knock back on the pinks would not be amiss, the pink of her shirt brings the eye to the rosatia across her cheeks. Be her friend, flatter her.

Thanks for the good advice. Portrait orientation....doh! Now I feel like an idiot overlooking the obvious. Color, background, and orientation can be fixed though.
Thanks, David
