I'm hoping to! The first week of school was crazy, and I have an insurance adjuster coming tomorrow for storm damage. Hopefully things will free up towards the end of the week.

I entered an image I really liked, so as usual it's headed for a personal worst.

Only three original images in this lot. A lot of postage card stuff though. Will be cool when the day comes that everyone shoots something original. That will be voting heaven.

I think instead of sitting out challenges, shoot something original.

I actually tried something completely original.

However. I failed.

So I had to go with something else.

Completely agreed. However I've participated in the last three consecutive challenges, and as a photography intern/assistant, shooting for every challenge on top of my job is just WAY too much photography and I needed a day to take a break. =)

I'll be back in with Fool the Viewer though...and Wine for sure! =)

Hehe, you should share it when outtakes time comes around!

Ummm, failed how? Being original is not failure. Being rewarded for following the crowd is.

Totally get it. Don't know if I was "totally original" I went with the moment, and now, much like a person finding out that a one night stand has become a horrifying addiction to a maladjusted relationship I want to weep. : ( But, if some of the other folk on this thread are any gauge, I am in GOOD company.

Failed because it was a lousy photograph. It took more knowledge than I currently have, and would have taken more time than I had to figure it out. It's going in the archives to be learned/studied later.

However, even though entered shot isn't original -- it was still a learning experience. There were many techniques that I tried for my unoriginal shot. Both in shooting and processing. So though it's unoriginal, it certainly was a new experience.

Sometimes there are too many factors to deal with successfully, and you have to pick and choose.

Hmmm, I have looked through your portfolio. There a couple of original images that would be curatable. I will favorite them, because they are very good.

How about we let people shoot whatever they want to shoot, and we let people vote whatever they want to vote. If you don't like unoriginal photographs then vote them down.

Originality is great, but so is technical perfection, and I don't think anyone has technically perfected squirrels as well as Wendy. For me I don't bother with either and just try to learn every challenge. I've had a camera less then a year, originality and technical perfection are still a distant dream.

Wow, what happened to "Shoot what you like"?

Some of us ENJOY shooting landscapes and sunsets...I'm sorry that our lack of originally does not please you...

I would also like to 2nd Wendy's point that some of us are very very green behind the ears and don't have the skills to even take a good (much less great) landscape yet, so this is another opportunity to enhance those skills.

I actually DID try something original FOR ME. And, as Wendy stated, I learned alot during the process. I don't expect a winning (or even above average) score for my entry, but I'm very pleased that I was able to capture my vision on this.

I think your augmented perception is original, gave it a 10. Personally, it is worth working on.

I think your "Radiant Beauty" has commercial value.

Thank you for the compliment (I think...).

No, you know what...Damn you for ceasing my rant by making me scour teh interwebz for "Augmented Perception," a topic apparently not widely popular among internet aficionados...which is actually rather ironic when you think about it. :-)

I think he might of quoted the wrong person. A few challenges ago I had an entry named "Augmented Perception". If so thank you for the compliment Tiberius :)
