I have Win 7 now, how's it work with that? I never did get it running with Vista... I'm sure it was my fault though...

I have Win 7 now, how's it work with that? I never did get it running with Vista... I'm sure it was my fault though...

Finally! Just took a year or so! Bloody vista!
The votes it generates aren't accurate if the monitor wasn't running while they came in. I have my one on 24-7 at work which helps accurate scoring. If you can't do that it's still nice to have it on so it'll pop up a window when it detects a score change. |

I gave top scores to 6 photos, all of which have excellent control of flare. I feel like people amped up the creativity level despite the challenge of low contrast and blown out highlights.

As expected, under 5. Such a horrible challenge. Truly the worst challenge topic I have seen, and by far the worst I have entered in. I only entered for the BYOAKC.
It is as if DPC has accepted that it is not really about quality photography, and therefore may as well compete on the flaws and general mistakes we make vs learning to improve and recognize quality photography and expand our appreciation of the medium. This challenge truly disappointed me, for I do not see how it improved any of us.
We all knew to avoid lens flare before. I'm still expecting "Sand Storm" for the next one, "take your gear into a sandstorm and make an image of your camera breaking" |

I disagree completely. It was definitely a frustrating challenge for which to shoot. But it's not about avoiding lens flare, it's about working with something you haven't worked with before. I have seen shots where people have done flare on purpose. And I have found some of them interesting. What I gained from this challenge is not to just avoid it, but now when it pops up, I'll probably see if I can do something interesting with it first, before I move to the side and avoid it.
This is not something that I would have ever played with on my own. But I feel much more empowered because of the knowledge.
It's the same with the underexposed/overexposed challenges. Work with something you normally avoid to see if you can turn it into something interesting.

You can always self-dq yourself, Wendy :-) I don't mind.
Haven't looked through the images yet. But challenged with around 150 entries are always competitive.
