There is a small group of us going to Bok Towers on Saturday Aug 27th....

I purchased some groupon tickets last spring intending to use them earlier, they expire on Sep 7th. I have 1-3 tickets left to share. The first ones that respond back will get the free tickets. If you don't get one of the free tickets it's only $10 per person - gardens only to get in or $16 per person - Gardens and Pinewood Estates House Tour (you can take photographs inside, bring a tripod).

These gardens are one of my favorites. They have beautiful grounds and a really nice cafe & gift shop.

Count me in. I haven't been there or met another user yet. It looks like a very beautiful place.

Just hope it makes a L/R turn!!!

Here's the NOAA site link. Mouse over the map to see more about each area of interest. Scroll down for other maps with different info about predicted tracks, wind expectations ect. NOAA National Hurricane Center
I hope that the new one forming now goes around us wide. For sure we will be getting at least the outflow rain, but sunrises and sunsets will be awesome for a few days.
My place is under 60 and 70 ft tall oaks, so I hope that it don't "hurricane up" on us. A big limb went right through the hot tub in Wilma.
ETA, 9:00 PM, Good night, it's Irene! Check the link above. It looks like it's going to be a wet week here in S Florida after Wednesday.

Just an update for anyone thinking about making this GTG; We are now talking about moving the date to this Sunday, to be announced maybe Wed. or Thurs. depending on what this tropical storm Irene is doing toward this weekend.

we've had nothing here of Hurricane...it's to far east/out in the ocean for us...might have some thunderstorms...but then this is Florida after all...all you have to do is wait another hour and the weather is bound to change...

Actually today I noticed the cloud formation...it was turning counter clockwise...think of a cotton candy machine...how it pulls all the sugar to the middle from the edges, so what it's doing here is sucking all the moisture out of our area to "strengthen" the eye of the storm, this usually happens when these storms pass us by....Today, was sunny, 90 and drier than usual (I know not terms used in Florida especially not in August!!!) Actually a very lovely day here.

It was a beautiful 75 here yesterday with awesome surf... Today was more "normal"...

ETA: I was considering making it, but I just spent the night parting here, and I've got a date tomorrow night, so... :) And all of that means that basically I'd need to drive up there in just over two hours, and I'm pretty sure I'll still be WAY over the limit then. So in the interest of not going to jail this weekend...............
Sorry. Really do wish I was able to go. ;)
