I saw this Groupon from Full Metal Photo for $38, $48 or $88 (depending on the size), and thought some members might be interested. It looks like a great deal and might be worth trying out at those prices. I've never printed anything on metal myself but Brent_S has, but from Bay Photo Lab, and he was very pleased with the look that was achieved by printing on metal. If anyone has used Full Metal Photo would you please let us know if you were pleased with their work and service?

Groupon Referral Link

eta to correct link! The other one was my referral link which doesn't work for the Bay Area I guess. :-/

No experience myself with printing on metal, but I have seen some great work. Not sure how and where it was printed.

But for now, I'm just wondering, why (after clicking on the link, step 1 is: Confirm your city: St John's. It's far, far away from me, although I know there's a DPC member in that place ( KarenNfld).

Groupon for Full Metal Photo

Well the link pulls up a groupon for a crawfish dinner for me- looks pretty tasty though ;)

I have printed up to 45X60 on aluminum sheets through Bayphoto though, and they came out really nice in glossy. I did one of a metal abstract object using "sheer" ink too and the aluminum texture showing through when the subject was sheet metal turned out pretty neat.

Haven't tried those guys, but hopefully they have an option for less rounded corners which I think would look better. Mine are all done with 1/4 or 1/8" corners.

I have three 16x24 inch metal prints from Bay Photo going into competition on Monday. To me they are fantastic! I would suggest everyone should try it at least once just to hang on the wall. You have to see them yourself because it's impossible to explain to you just how different they are. They are stunning. However I'll know by Tuesday if the art council jury agrees and accepts them for the competition. My fear is they will be looked at as a gimmick. Of course I don't think that.

All the people who have seen the photos loved them... Too much so and touched the print. Worried, I called Bay Photo and they said just use window cleaner and a VERY soft cloth to clean off the finger prints! What could be easier?

If you're interested in printing on metallic paper, the Pearl Metalic paper from Red River is awesome.

Great Cory! Photography related Groupons are hard to find sometimes but when you buy one, you form a "follow" list so you can find their deals again. I'm only "following" Canvas on Demand right now so if you are happy with your metal prints, when I have something I want to print on metal I might have to ask you to look at your follow list to see if Full Metal Photo has a Groupon available. :-)

Hope they come out great!

Those look wonderful Dale! Good Luck with the art's council!

I wish Bay Photo had Groupons but I understand you can get a discount from them if you have a Smugmug account.

eta: What surface and corners did you use?

Bay Photo does offer a 25% dicount on your first order. My total was $293.00 and was invoiced at $222.14. Sweet!

You can see the offer on the home page on the lower right under "Bay Photo News" //www.bayphoto.com/

OH! I forgot you asked about surface and corners. I did the high gloss with 1/8 inch rounded corners($2.00 each print). I also added the float hanger ($7.50 each print)that gives a mount behind the print and it puts it 1/2 inch off the wall or backing. It makes it look like it is floating off the wall.

Thanks for the wish of luck. I will use it.

Will do - I'll check it out now and start a "Canvas on Demand" Groupon thread. You usually have 4 months or so to use your Groupons so if you buy a few you don't have to be in a rush to get your images uploaded.
