It's been a while since I made a video slideshow, and I am gearing up to make some again. I used to use ProShow by Photodex. It was easy to use, but I would need to find it again. What else is out there that can create really stunning videos in HD?

I really like using Animoto.com.

I've looked at animoto, and their shows are quite nice, but to get full features is pretty pricey. I've been looking more at ProShow Producer today also, and honestly I think I just need to do some tutorials for it, because it seems to be quite capable, in the right hands. Anyone know any good tutorials for it?

Photodex Proshow Producer is still arguably the gold standard for slide show software.

They are a bit stingy with their "official" online training (i.e. you have to pony up the $$$), but there are boo-coo tutorials on youtube, and a lot of reference material and good forum discussion at the Proshow Enthusiasts site.

If you still have an older version licensed, you can probably still do 90% of what you'll find discussed online, with the exception of the new "wizard" or-whatever-they-call-it they added in 4.5.

A word of caution, if you're on an older version -- some older core software will break if you update the media export plugins (you'll see a dialog recommending you update when you export a show). If you update certain combinations of versions, you'll break all your export capability altogether, and the only fix is to re-install your licensed version from scratch. It's not that difficult, but it's just a headache. You can find fresh installs of all the old version of Producer here.

I haven't really played with it, but IrfanView (free) has slideshow capabilities, and is useful for lots of other things as well.
