Hello,

I was experimenting with some different setups and got to this photo.

Of course I know how I did it...but do you? If you look close, you may get the answer faster. I know you guys and gals are pretty good so I won't be surprised if you get it in two or three posts.

This photo would be legal in a basic editing challenge.

1, 2, 3, ....GO !

Cool....it is actually nails sitting on a mirror with white sheet overhead....so the bottom nails are actually reflections. You can see the difference in the "color" of the nails and their reflections.

If you look you can see some very faint reflections also. I think this is due to some kind of double coating. Would a better mirror eliminate this "ghosting"?

EDIT: The shadow is actually on the sheet above the nails !

Thanks

I think (?) the ghosting comes from shooting more horizontal. I know that tends to promote reflection on certain matte surfaces. Maybe try shooting from an angle that's a bit more vertical/ top down.

I seen it right away. Cool trick though if you could get less reflection.

Yup, you need a front coated mirror.

I did not know there was such a thing as a front surface mirror. Cool
