Wow, how scandalous!
I am really glad I chose not to enter in this challenge. I will be watching this thread/the site closely to see what the SC chooses to do about it.
Certainly a highly low voting challenge, which implies there were many people involved in the subterfuge. Just a few votes wouldn't so drastically make a difference.

Edit: I was curious and figured out the average of this image without the ones:

If only the 12 1 votes were deleted, the average of this image would have been a 6.5...aka a ribbon winner.
(Thats of course not counting how the higher voted entries would be affected by deleting 12 votes. EIther way a recalculation is in order)

Note: The date says "January 19"

His work is amazing though!

It's a "Her" :D

She's a newbie on DPC and probably made the typical Newbie error concerning dates, might be a language issue too. She's got great portraits though!

I was looking thru all the photos and looking at comments (since you guys got me all curious enough). I think I know what the problem is. One commenter referred to "Edwards" work. Obviously the issue is that our photos were not Twilight enough. I'm sure if we did B&W of vampires, those 1's would have been 3's easy :D

Digging a bit deeper (I love a good mystery) I checked all members who joined around the time of this challenge - seeing how one of those photos received 13 tens - completely against the general trend of voting on that particular image - and found a number of new members who have voted on 71 entries, have very low average votes cast and all joined around the same time. I love tabbed browsing, makes this kind of thing all the quicker.

I think their tenure here will be somewhat shortlived.

DPC gets interesting!!! I love it. The village plundering has been missed.

I looked at some of the portrait entries (mine included) and noticed the heavy use of one's. However really, I must not be a good detective.....I just shrugged my shoulders and thought that (the portraits) must have really been off the mark for this challenge. (like my entry was).

Good grief! I switch off the computer for one night and all this happens...

I came 5th in the Weston challenge and at the risk of losing that prized placing I suggest the results are recalculated without the bogus accounts / dishonest voters so that his challenge's results can be as fair as all the others in the past.
I guess the others from the top 5 should agree first? Has there ever been a total recalculation of results before in DPC's history?
Any thoughts?

For the good of the community, to stop difficult recalculations and further confusion, and to take away any opportunity for animosity between the 139 entries that beat me, I am prepared to take on the burden of being placed second or third, but not first, as I don't want to appear greedy.

Votes have to be fair, we all agree on that I'm sure.

From the voting rules themselves:
- You may not vote in a manner that suggests an intent to disrupt the voting system.
- You may not offer or cast biased votes for any other user.
- You may not hold more than one DPChallenge account.
- We will ignore the votes of any user we believe is voting disruptively.

If this cheating is real (as it seems to be), then these votes have to be ignored as stated in the rules, which involves a recalculation in the present case.

Well investigated. So lets see where this leads too.
Would still be intersting to know of previous challenges where results were recalculated and to see how much it changed everything.

Very true. It might just be a simple case of having to see what IPs created the accounts, and seeing if other accounts originated from these.
Hopefully they're not tunneling...

Can someone give us a link about 'she who must not be named?' All I've heard were sparse rumours and have invented increasingly more bizarre narratives to understand the flat-out loathing she receives here. A history book or wikipedia page would be better actually. One that hopefully documents the time she spend in Libya and NK if possible, but it's understandable if that's not available.
Also, if it was her why did she only hit a certain few pictures and not them all?

As a non-participant in this challenge I'd like to think I'm unbiased in hoping for what the SC decides to do, and I feel the only proper course of action is to scrub those votes entirely from the system and recalculate. It'll be a massive shakeup, but it's their only option if this challenge is to have any validity as a challenge.

I even believe the results should be hidden until then, as they are surely going to change dramatically. Pull the challenge from the front page until it's fixed.

The other option is to remove scores and leave it as a DPC Weston gallery one-off. Fun idea, actually, which could be used in the future. Kind of a publicly displayed side-challenge gallery, where folks don't get all hung up on scores or placement.

Something looks fishy true - but can I suggest that having adjusted the scores - it might be appropriate to take a slightly charitable view of those responsible ? I often see threads on here saying effectively - "I am in such and such a competition, please go to website x and vote for me". This seems to be the way things are often done on other sites and if the people responsible are new to the site and young and have said something similar to their friends thinking that this site works that way, maybe they should just get asked not to do it again. (And monitored for a while).
