I'm trying to decide between these two lenses.I will be using it on a Nikon D300 mostly for wildlife and nature.

Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 70-300 f 4.0-5.6D ED

Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikor 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G ED VR

Any experience or insight you have with either of these lenses will be appreciated.

I've heard pretty good things about the 55-300mm. The VR is clearly a benefit over non VR at longer distances.
