I purchased the Nike+ gadget to track my runs and was wondering if anyone else out there has ever used it. I don't plan on using it with a Nike shoe because I really don't like the Nike running shoes but will use it will my New Balance shoes with a DIY pouch that I can attach to my shoe. My question to anyone that has used this is how accurate is it and how long did it last you? I have read some great reviews but I have also read some bad reviews. The bad reviews always state that the battery life is horrible and last way less than Nike claims. Some as short as a 3 months but I've seen some people claim 1-2 years worth of service from it.

Sorry I cant help you with this one, but if you find you need an alternative piece of kit I can recommend the Garmin forerunner product. I have the 305 and have been using it for 7 years, it's tracked thousands of miles and is very accurate, if I run or cycle it's with me.

I've got the Nike+ unit with Nike shoes, i'm not really a big runner but i do love gadgets.
I would suggest that you calibrate it by doing a measured mile run on the flat and once you've done that i have remeasured it and found it to be accurate to within 50 - 150 meters over a 2 - 3 mile route.
I personally like the website integration and progress tracking.
As i said i'm not a big runner but i've had the unit for 3 years still on the same battery.

I don't know about the Nike, I have a Garmin forerunner 305 and I love it! All of my running friends have one too. I run several half marathons during the summer months and I wouldn't run one without it.

Are these other devices you guys mentioned down-loadable? Will they track progress?

The Garmin products are gps watches, you can download all your runs to a computer which gives you statisical information. The newer version is on the expensive side but it is a quality product which will last you for years.

I use Endomondo on my iPhone. Works like a charm. No extra's needed. You can use it for all kinds of sports :)
