I used apature back in the early days but had to switch to Lightroom because my libraries were so large that I could not contain them in a single file. Does anyone know if this issue has been rectified?

Not sure what you meaqn by "contain themin a single file". Aperture does not store the files as blob in a database. The files are stored on the file system and the metadata is managed by Aperture.

at any rate, I am nearing a 900 GB on just the originals. I have no issues with performance on a well outfitted PowerMac.

Perhaps a query on the apple support forums would also be worth a shot.

Hey Adam, when are you going to start entering challenges again. Since they killed you off on NCIS: Los Angeles seems you might have a bit of time on your hands. LOL. Speaking of which...LOVE that show, and really liked your character...nice work.

Not an Apple user, but just wanted to chime in. Hope you find the answer you need.

Ah, i thought aperture handled photos the same way as Iphoto. Thanks for the info.

When a Library becomes too large to navigate efficiently, I create a new Library. Aperture 3.1.2 makes it easy and efficient to switch from one library to another.

Within a library, the organization is super efficient. Project, Folder, Album, (Smart Album). Set things up to your hearts desire.

I think the key is the Mac OSX 10.6.7 and Aperture 3.1.2. I've run into zero constraints with only 7 GB of RAM on a Mac Pro. Integration with the Nik Software plugins is trouble free.
