Ok... since it has come up elsewhere I'll make a quick post about myself for anyone who might be curious...

I never really left DPChallenge. I have maintained my paid membership here (with the exception of a few months period) since Drew and Langdon started offering paid memberships. I have been lurking mostly for the last couple years. I stop by, have a look around, read a few forum posts, and then go on about my business. Most of the people who were here who were inspirations to me in the early days of this site are no longer here for whatever the reason. I don't know the reasons why all of them are gone but I do know for some.

I have been going through some changes in my own life during the last 4 years or so and that is starting to settle down now and I'm hoping to get back into my personal photography a little stronger in the next few months. That effort might allow me to participate in some challenges occasionally. I bought some new lenses in hopes that they would inspire me to spend more time shooting for myself than shooting the stuff I have been doing.

Things are a lot different at DPC now than when I was a more active participant. The discussion boards engaged me as much as the weekly contests did back then, and that isn't the case these days for some reason.

At any rate, I will probably be around here a little more frequently in the future, so if you are easily offended, watch out ;)

I have been going thru the change also, you're not alone. My hot flashes have been driving my wife crazy.

by the way, I find your 'lurking' offensive

Yep, welcome back, Jimmy/John.

You make spot-on, perceptive comments and they are well worth looking forward to.

OH admit it, your a hack with a camera and a wild keyboard that makes harsh comments that make the weak cry and the strong whimper.

I spotted you lurking several times and alerted the authorities, but you always managed to evade.

Welcome back, Jim. :P

You've always been quite helpful in my experience, so I'm glad to see you active on the forums again. You're blunt, but usually right.

=)

Glad to see you back!

That's different than "glad to see your back" right?

You know you've been around for a while when the folks who were the old timers when you joined need to introduce themselves. Glad to see your planning on spreading your special warmth about.

Could we be in for a resurgence of the glory days of JMSetzler.

Shots like this are DPC Classics - its kind of like 1980s golden era porn. In fact I`d say he is the Ron Jeremy of DPC!!

Good to see you again, John:) Just for your info, here's what Simms has been doing while you were away??

03/30/2011 04:40:20 PM · #24

good to *see* you John. Your post is almost word-for-word what I could write about my own absence from dpc the last few years. It certainly has changed a lot from "back in the day". Nice to know you're going to be around.
