I've had this experience with my similar, but not lovingly made by a friend, pinhole camera. I now double check that the take up spool has no slack, or as little as possible prior to closing up the camera. If I recall correctly, you have a pressure plate, so this should help as well. My rolls loosen as I go along requiring some micro-management of the winders. This happens, despite the frame number appearing in the correct spot. I'm curious if this sounds familiar!

Is there any special way to package the film for sending it on, or can I just USPS a padded envelope?

Padded envelop works just fine....

Probably best to send it in a tank via the US Army to be sure.

If post office X-ray scanning is your concern, you can write "Film - Do Not Scan" on the envelope. Honestly, though, I think it will be ignored. In any case, stories of film being ruined by postal scanning are rare. If it's 35mm, at least put the film in the plastic canister that it came in for a bit of added protection.

Excellent work.

Was there any planning in what you took or are we just looking at serendipity?

No planning at all. A roll of 36 exposures does seem to increase the odds of a good shot or two. Also, on the first shot, quite a bit of work was done in pse to suck out the image of the woman. The mask ended up darker than I like; and it exacerbated the grain, which I like. There are some adjustments in post on the others, but not so much. JamesA --> thank you for your efforts and collaboration! -T.

Fabulous work, Tom and James. Very motivating, very exciting. Thanks for posting.

A few housekeeping things...

I thought of starting a new gallery thread now that images are trickling in, but I don't see any reason not to keep images and discussion all housed under the same thread (this one). If anyone thinks we need a dedicated images thread, please speak up.

jomari needs a partner. I think. I tried to hook her up with bergiekat, but the latter seems to be MIA. I've got three partners already and a pretty busy March coming up.

A note on exposure... as I was looking through the negatives, it seems every time I included snow or sky my images completely washed out James'. Film was 400 speed and I shot at 640 asa. So it seems to me that white can really do a number on the other participant's shots. Just an FYI. Paul... most of the images I shot on the rolls I sent to you were done outside. Hopefully we will get something useful. T.

Film Swap with myself and paynekj

Camera: Kevin's Kodak Brownie Vecta
Film: efke 127 100
Development: Fotospeed FD10 1/9 for 8minutes

Got some interesting pictures I think, no planning at all. Ironicly the best two frames are all Kevins for some reason what ever I shot didn't show up :p

We have a second roll of efke 127 100 to shoot, i'll be going first this time before sending the camera back to Kevin.

Thanks James.

It's a pity the shutter doesn't seem to be reliable. With only 8 frames per film we could do with it working every time.

This one looks like I managed to get a double exposure on my own, despite the camera having protection against that. I was intending to take the picture here:
East Street (Street View)

I owe jomari a roll. Will then need to send it around the world...

Can't wait to see some more stuff though.

And I'm shooting another roll to send off to him, in the meantime.

Our first and second rolls are completely serendipitous... we're just going to see what happens. After that, we may make some adjustments.

Might have to drop me out of this. After my accident, my mobility is going to be limited for a while.

My Acme Film Swap Kit arrived this past week from Orange, California. We have some sun today, so I might see what damage I can do to the enclosed, half-exposed paper negatives.

Anyone else have a progress report?
