Here's a place to come for help.

Ok. I'm still really missing the DPL group thread. But mostly for the member's input on challenge options.

I have my few, poor souls that I continuously bother for feedback on challenge entries. Others do the same thing. But I'm wondering how many lost souls just suffer silently while trying to decide. Or perhaps they know which photo to enter, but they know that something's just not right with it, but they can't figure out just what it is...

I'm extremely grateful for all of the help I've received during the last 2 years, so I wanted to let people know that there are people that are willing to help, give opinions, give feedback, tell you something sucks and that you should reconsider entering it if you're worried about your average, tell you to enter it immediately because it's spectacular, etc.

What we need: Brave souls who are willing to offer opinions and advice. If you enjoy helping others and giving your opinion, sign up here! Let people know you're interested and available.

How it works: People can just post their requests here. Something to the effect of: "help! I can't decide." or "How can I make this better before submitting", etc. Or, they could just simply PM a person or persons from the list.

Anyone is welcome at anytime. No level of expertise is necessary.

Interested? Sign up here!!

Questions because this is too confusing because I was too sleepy when I wrote it? Please ask!!

Of course, you can add me to the list. I've found that the honest, but well intentioned feedback has been one of the strongest learning experiences to be had on DPC.

Sign me up. I don't mind giving advice on potential challenge entries. I'll be brutally honest, so be warned, you might not like what I have to say! :)

Happy to be included.

Totally in.

Edited to add: You might want to ask SC though if this can go ahead, they have been knows to be a bit funny about this!

a person who recommends you enter a picture in a particular challenge can also vote on said picture?

It's left to the honor system. If you feel you can vote fairly, then you can vote on it. My personal policy is that knowing whose it is and having offered feedback can bias me, so I do not vote on an entry that I have given feedback on.

I don't vote on the images i've seen prior to the challenge. Even though I feel I could do it fairly, why take chances. It's possible that seeing it for a longer time, or more often, might give it extra opportunities to seep into your psyche, so I choose not to vote on those.

I have been wanting to make a thread like this for weeks, but was unsure if they were allowed or not. So I am super glad that you made it.

I am so in. Both to give feedback and receive

I occasionally offer feedback to a few people. Once I have seen an image, offered suggestions for improvement and have seen the improved version, I have a special interest and a biased opinion. Therefore, I do not vote on the image in the challenge. That should be the rule, rather than an option.

I absolutely want to participate. Great idea Wendy!

What if my advised choice browns out? ;) Would there be a score for how good the advice was?

I frequently give feedback. I'm happy to give feedback. I don't vote on images where I've been involved in a feedback loop. Add me to the list.

I have 3 poor souls myself, that I continuously "bother" for feedback. It is nice to have a list of other participants I can "bother".

Thanks for putting this list together. Please include me for giving feedback. I think if you take feedback you should be willing to give it as well. I think I almost learn more when I give feedback to others than when I receive it. So thanks to all of you who have been willing to let me give my somewhat amature opinion on your photos.

I absolutely love the concept of this thread. Can I ask a naive question though? If I had 2-3 pictures that I could not decide on for a challenge, how would I provide those images to a person/s to review for me and give their comments and feedback?

Several options
1. If you are a paid member put them in your workshop folder and pm the id numbers
2. Ask for their email address and send them that way
3. Put them on a photo hosting site like Flickr and pm the links.
