Too late! Now I'll be looking for Grandma while I'm voting.

Maybe I am a stickler. . .but the challenge said "something" not "someone" in excess of 100 years. . .do you think people will really count as non DNMC subjects for this?

Yep, you are being a stickler here, a person is someone, but also something 100 years old. I am person, but I am still something old in my ways:) I do things that are old to the yuff of today, in the realm of objects, animate or inanimate. I am a thing as well as a humman bean.

Yes, you're a stickler. Lighten up. Enjoy the images.

OK, I'm in and am happy with my entry. This absolutely guarantees that it'll tank big time!

Don't listen to them. We must stick to our principles!

I think this is a semantical argument.

Dictionary Definition-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

thing n
1. an object, fact, affair, circumstance, or concept considered as being a separate entity
2. any inanimate object
3. an object or entity that cannot or need not be precisely named
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hence a person is not a thing, unless referred to informally as a "poor thing", and this challenge indicates "something" not "someone".

This actually makes the challenge harder for me, as it would be much easier to barge into a nursing home and snap a shot Elder McCrankster then it will be for me to find a something over a 100 years old.

My predicted shoehorns for this contest will be

Landscape and/or Sky Shots
People
Concepts or Ideas (either pictures or acted out ideals)

: )

BTW, I am not "THAT" worried about this. This one was just about as scary a topic for a wide range of interpretations as I've seen so far. Will certainly be fun.

The Moon.
A rock or pebble.

Although, making a photo of a rock interesting would be in itself a challenge.

I got a question. The thing you photograph has to be 100 years old itself or, lets say, invented 100 years before? :)

Guaranteed DNMC if you shoot, say, a 2010 Mercedes Benz and title it "First Manufactured 1885" LOL.

Entered the challenge with yet another "hope it does well". Usually ends me up with a 5 to 5.5 range but I'm still hoping that this could be the one that hits mid 6's.

Guess I have submitted a "shoehorn" as classified above. Not that I actually know what that means...

Well, a shoehorn is used to force something to fit where it really doesn't, so a shoehorned entry is one that is forced to fit, usually by the use of a clever title.

Usually.

My problem is both not having the experience and/or time to create the shot I see in my head as well as my titles aren't clever enough to trick the voters!

By the looks of your profile page you seem to be doing just fine.

I'm in - however, I have a feeling it will not do well with the voters here, but I like it. :-D

I'm in. First one since my last train wreck. Feels good though. If the sun would just cooperate I'd get involved in a lot more. Or maybe I should buy a flash. eh, to be pondered later. Should be interesting to see what ends up in this.
