I've explained myself. Sorry, when I put this in last night I didn't have time.

There are no diamond rings in the song. The first seven days are all birds.

How about the 5 Gold Rings\?

Some misinterpretations have crept into the English-language version over the years. The fourth day's gift is often stated as four "calling" birds but originally was four "colly" birds, using another word for a blackbird.[1][9] The fifth day's gift of gold rings refers not to jewellery but to ring-necked birds such as the ring-necked pheasant.[1] When these errors are corrected, the pattern of the first seven gifts all being birds is restored. There is a version of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" that is still sung in Sussex in which the four calling birds are replaced by canaries.[11]

A minor variant includes the singing of "golden" rather than "gold" rings, to avoid having to stretch "gold" into two syllables ("go-old").[1][12]

Here's a three-for-one for #6. Today I was heading towards Union Square for the big municipal tree, when about two blocks away from the City's heart, I saw an immense line. Turns out it is the annual Christmas food distribution put on by Glide Memorial Church. Some 300 volunteers packed 5000 bright red bags with food for distribution. (Usually, it's 6000; this year it's less for more people) The line stretched around several blocks; I captured several "Drive-by" pictures with two cameras, fortunately in slow traffic.

Yes, there is more than one side to this bright, happy holiday of ours.

After reading the thoughtful comment on this image by AircooledGuy, I decided to post the link for donations to Glide Memorial Church. In our community they do splendid work in caring for the unfortunate among us.

Also, just a thought, and if the spirit moves anyone who sees this collage, think about a donation to such an organization in your community.

Pheasants are birds, so it's a bird.

#7 is more upbeat than yesterday's effort. I was waiting at a long stop light at 19th and Sloat yesterday when I noticed this 'santa' at the tree lot. There was time to fish out my point n shoot and capture 9 images of the antics.

Then the light changed, and I was on my way again.

And thank you for the positive response to Image #6. I know it's easier and more fun to celebrate the pretty things about this holiday time, but as Art Roflmao said, "Pretty simple - a 12 day side challenge with a holiday theme (bright side or dark side)" so sometimes the dark side needs to be recorded too.

I am posting early, I am bored, we were suppose to be going to a Christmas party tonight and my husband came down with the stomach flu. I guess its day 7 somewhere.
