I don't have anything to post yet, but I'd be surprised if others haven't saved a few up already, so post away and show what can be done when we leave our big boy DSLR's behind.

I guess I get to go first- even though it is still Haloween in my time zone (US Pacific). My point and shoot was converted to shoot images in infrared so they will look different than pictures the rest of you will be taking. IR also usually requires a bit of processing- they are rarely shown as "out of the camera". This first one is of some people lawn bowling at Balboa Park in San Diego today (Sunday for me).

Using my iPhone rather than the LX3 but a shot that would be difficult with any other camera :)

hehe I actually grabbed my point and shoot this morning, between my iPhone and my SD 850 I should start having something. Actually this morning I tried a couple of shots just before sunrise. we'll have to see how they turn out and weather or not to post them, but should be a fun month.

I'll be mostly posting shots taken with my film point & shoots. Film has been a fun diversion for me lately. I may sneak my wife's digital point & shoot from her purse on occasion though.
This one is from the student section at a recent HS football game.

Nov 01 - Autumn colors

I'll have to skip commenting here for a few days. Busy making a photo book with photos of 10 photographers, all with their own wishes and very late with submitting. Absolute deadline: Wednesday :(

One of the very first shots I took with this camera.

Dude, a Leica M9 hardly counts has a "point and shoot" ;-)

I pointed it and I shot :D But what would it be considered then? Not a DSLR either. A P&S with a great lens? :-)

Just giving you hard time for posting a shot with that gem of a camera along side images taken with camera phones!

Technically, I would categorize it as a rangefinder to differentiate it from a DSLR. I think point and shot cameras are consumer level cameras with a lot of automated functions.

We should have a shoot out with your Leica M9 and my Olympus PEN, both are considered rangefinder cameras. Of course, one costs about $7000 more than the other. Game on? Portrait Triptych?

Dang - I JUST packed down my homestudio selling it to recover some of my M9 costs... didn't use it much anyway... I'll have to count on daylight this weekend. You're on bud!

Okay.. here we go I grabbed my Canon SD 850IS as I left for work today, and while the car was warming up I saw my first photo.

I learned a few things from just this first few shots.

1) How to turn off the flash, but then found after that the photo with the flash just barely highlighting the tree seemed to be the better shot.

2) that the moon is never as big as it is in the movies.

this was about 20 minutes before sun rise BTW.

I took liberties with this. It was an overcast day and the leaves are just about done. I'll have to wait until next year to get more foliage pics.

I spotted this oldsmobile for sale out in front of a convenience store on the drive home this afternoon. Nice sky blue color and tailfins! I love tailfins, wish they would bring them back. They would look pretty cool with 21st century styling. The biggest limitation of the P&S is the focal length does not go as wide as I would like, so I experimented with tilt to get some of the strong perspectives that I like.

Hey Steve, I'd like to get in on this if you don't mind. I'll probably post some shots later tonight and throw some comments out, and will be shooting with my LX3.

Jump on in. Only rule is to leave your big boy DSLR at home.

Sunset at my home away from home for the next 10 days. It's not as glamorous as it looks LOL.

Although my new M9 is not a DSLR I did feel guilty submitting in this SC. So from now on it'll be with my iPhone or my small P&S DLux4 Leica (definitely a genuine P&S).

This shot was taken with my iPhone 4.

OK, it took me a little bit to figure out how I was going to get photos here but I think I have it now.
