My score is lower than about all of them in this thread, BUT, I have more comments than I ever expected. :)

It is going to be interesting to see the vote mix on this one. The range/spread of votes is likely to be high especially my interpretation!

I'm sure this has already been said...I've seldom seen so many DNMCs...but with pretty cool pictures. There are direct, correct quotes everywhere, and a very few actual misquotes. I don't think this challenge was well addressed. Still had to give some 6s and 7s even if the "misquote" wasn't, just because the pics were good.

This challenge isn't ending up as I thought it would. I was expecting misquotes along the lines of some of the often misunderstood/misquoted song lyrics. Like: "See that girl, watch her scream, kicking the dancing queen" (real quote: See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen)

When it's just a quote where the misquote is exactly the same meaning as the original, with only a few words swapped, then why bother with the "mis" at all. You might as well just had a famous quote challenge.

I haven't voted yet. And even though it's not what I expected, I'll certainly accept the quotes with the few words swapped. But I guess I don't understand the purpose of the challenge considering the way it's been met.

It happens; that's life; it's just weird. :)

In some cases that changes the meaning or common usage of the quote. Sometimes in a subtle manner. And yes, sometimes the misquoted words don't make any real meaning changes, but it's still a misquote and if someone has a shot that suits it, then it's fine to me. Not too different to me than choosing an illustration to accompany a motivational poster.

yup, it's fine with me, as well. It just would have been more interesting the other way around, imo. But a misquote is a misquote -- interesting or not.

I still don't understand this. I voted on all the images, and only came across a couple that I couldn't prove to be misquotes. The ones I didn't know at first glance I put into Google. For search terms I put the word misquote and then the image title in quotes. It took 2 seconds to do, and I even learned a thing or two.

Seems to be holding slightly above a 6. Hoping for happy late voters. I'll set out a cooler of free beer for them.

I'm really hoping to break 6.4 to get it on my front page, displacing that silly little dachshund.

Interesting discussion here. Allow me to 'stir the pot' a bit. (hope that's not a misquote)

Is it fair to say that the concept of this challenge is at least a little "Open to interpretation?"

The original instruction was as follows: “Find a great misquote and represent it in a photograph.”

In the most literal sense, I could interpret that as 'identify someone else's misquote of some phrase, statement, etc., and depict that in a photo.'

However, if one interprets the word “Find” as “Think of,” would it be so wrong to have THOUGHT OF and then pictorially represented a misquote as some have done?

Surely if one can "think of" or "create" a quote they can also "find it". That's so long as you write it down, crumple the paper into a ball, and throw it. Then surely you must then go find it... otherwise that would be littering!

Do you have five images on your front page? I only see four on profiles... and I can't see where one would set this option.

Oh... apparently the number of photos displayed is one less than the value you select for "Images Per Row." That makes perfect sense!
