Howdy,

Have a co-worker trying to sell his Tamron 28-200mm F/3.8-5.6 LD Aspherical Super (about 10 years old) and wants to know if its compatible with the Nikon d3000? Anyone know of any sites to check or know off hand if this combination works ?

Much appreciated for responses,

Dan

I think it would need a motor to work with the D3000, older ones don't have in-built motors.

ETA: To autofocus. Will work on manual focus tho, I think:)

You'll definitely lose AF ability with the older lens on the D3000.

Yeah, I'm not even sure the old make had AF to begin with... I was perusing some info on it, and it seemed to be manual focus from what I found. If you're alright with manual focus, it may work. Tamron lenses are made with the mount specific to the body make, so you'd have to find out if it has an F (Nikon) mount or not. Posting a pic of the mount would enable us to tell you if it is an F mount or other. There is also the older Tamron Adaptall mount, which means you may need an additional piece of hardware to mount for Nikon specific.

If it's an AF lens, it should meter but won't autofocus... at least that's what the AF Nikkors do.
