I was just coming over here to post the same link. I love garage sales, but have never gotten this lucky. Very cool. I am so curious how they ended up in that sale.

There is a guy in California right now, who had a garage sale 10 years ago, who is probably banging his head against the wall.

very cool stuff. Anybody seen the History Channel show "American Pickers?"

Picked, Ansel Adams Photos, $45
Valued, $200,000,000
Profit, $199,999,955

Heck, that's only 4.4 million percent profit, or a return on investment of 362% per year, LOL.

Sigh - more boring B&W landscapes - he should of diversified a bit - water drops, girls with headscarves partially covering their faces, cats - that kind of thing.

They also look very grainy and not very sharp - bit too contrasty as well.

So what's remarkable about this?

They're worth 200 million?

They are Ansel Addams negatives?

Or

Ansel never was great at archiving his work?

I think the answer about that is simple.

We all would love to find something similar. It's fun to hear about someone elses find and the process of discovery.

Does he have to pay taxes on the negs even if he doesnt sell them?

Oh wait - they might not be his. The article also brings up an interesting point - is it an Ansel Adams negative that we really treasure as "his work," or is it his finished product, the perfected print?

Excellent,

Now there's controversy!

Hehe. Who catches the irony of this quote...

"She grew up in Yosemite. She was an intelligent, well-read woman. I find it hard to believe she would mispell those names," he said.

Ansel Adams heirs skeptical about lost negatives claim.
BEVERLY HILLS — A trove of old glass negatives bought at a garage sale for $45 has been authenticated as the lost work of Ansel Adams and worth at least $200 million, an attorney for the owner said today, but the iconic photographer's representatives dismissed the claim as a fraud and said they're worthless.

Kinda soft, I don't like the black and white effect. Try it next time without desaturation.

Also DNMC.

I'd give it a 4. Maybe next time try putting someone in the picture. Nobody likes pictures of mountains.
