People on Twitter post the greatest stuff! Today I found this: //milasdaydreams.blogspot.com/
This mom takes photos of her sleeping daughter and creates scenes of what her daughter might be dreaming. The photos are absolutely beautiful and the idea is completely genius.

With the consistent setup it would make a good picture-book too ... just a little text to go along with the titles might do it.

Personally, I find it a little hokey and over-the-top. That there's a market for it makes me weep for humanity. Or women.

If we didn't have a few things on the hokey end of the spectrum, the bell curve would lean far to far towards the sour, violent or profane.

These are relatively original and well-executed and apparently consistent with the photographer's personal artistic vision ... so what's with the unexpected (to me) spasm of negative judgementalism? Your first sentence was fine ... I wish you'd stopped there.

Sorry, I just had to be judgemental about your comment... :-(

I don't find them even remotely well-executed, actually. They seem rushed and like the person is more interested in making that quick buck than any kind of integrity to her "art".

As for being judgemental on my comment, eh. We all have opinions.

As a mother and a grandmother I will go on record as saying there is nothing too hokey when it comes to babies.

They are innocent, beautiful and a blank slate. My prayer is that what is written on their slate is unconditional love.

This isn't a put down for you K10DGuy - you have as much right to your opinion as I do ... but it makes me sad that you are making assumptions that the mother is only trying to make a quick buck - if she did profit, good for her .. it's costs thousands to raise a child.

My view of her photos is that she is deeply in love and well bonded with her daughter and dreaming of all that life has to offer her.

the photos are alright, i wouldn't call it amazing photography, but they are a wonderful keepsakes for the mother and her child as she grows up.

I'll admit I may have felt differently if I had a baby, or wanted one. :P

Dang, that's great, I wish I'd done that with my daughters, I'm jealous.

You're right. They're not well executed and they are rushed. The mother is not a professional photographer. She's taking quick pictures within a few minutes of time of her napping newborn, while trying not to wake her, as the baby lays on the living room carpet. She's not trying to make a buck. She's just having fun with her newborn.

I think the judgemental tone must've come about because you didn't know the entire story.

I put one of my newborns in a frying pan on the stove top for a snapshot, but that was way back in the late nineties, long before I became interested in photography. I'm not sure where the pic is, I think it's on film from a disposable camera. I need to dig it up and scan it.

I don't like them.

Its nice to see new ideas, but this doesn't work for me. This might work better for a toddler. I can't get past the fact that a babies wouldn't have the mental capacity conjure up a dream like that.

While not technically amazing, I always enjoy seeing something a little different. I like the creativity of the idea.
