I'd say maybe I left a little mojo on that lens. Nice shot. :D

Glad it arrived in good shape. Enjoy it.

Thanks Matt - It is indeed a sharp and fast lens... I think I'll enjoy it immensely..

I'd send the lens back...its so sharp it picks up all the green dust bunnies on the sensor. :)

I hope everyone has enjoyed this SC. i had a blast took the entire month of june off working for the paper. I start back tomorrow night so my last post on here was my last. I'll still comment on several in between jobs tomorrow. I appreciate everyone who viewed, commented, and were grossed out by my photos. We will have to do this again together!

It's been a fun time with this. Sorry I didn't have enough free time to do all that I wanted.
I'm going to go out with a fang.

I never knew that they had hair on their butt : )

Things I have learned through this side challenge:

1) The focal plane in macro photography is very small
2) The amount of light available is low
3) If you walk around the house with a macro lens, you find you really didn't dust as well as you thought
4) Insects don't pose for very long
5) Wildlife goes far beyond the large animals
6) Macro photography can make cotton balls look interesting
7) Bugs really do have many eyes
8) ...and hairy butts
9) Macro photography can give you poison ivy
10) There are little people all around us running the world, we just can't see them without a macro lens
11) Windy days suck for macro photography
12) A flash is your new best friend when shooting closeup
13) You can measure down to less than 27 µm
14) Pollen is sticky
15) Joining a SC can make you spend money on a new lens, or sell and old one and buy a better one......

I think that sums it up for me.

This has been a fun side challenge. Thankyou Matt and other participants - I'll maybe see you in July. What I have learned from this side challenge - I want MORE cameras/lenses!

Try shooting flower macros in the hour or two after dawn ... you will have morning raking light, possibly dew, and a better chance of no wind. I think the wind usually increases as the day goes on and the land surfaces absorb and re-radiate heat, causing thermal updrafts and changing the atmospheric pressure/density and generally stirring things up ...

When the Giants still played at Candlestick Park, it was a consistent phenomenon for the hot dog wrappers to begin swirling and piling up against the fences between 2:45 and 3:00, right about the critical final innings of a day game, which they kept insisting on starting at 1:05 instead of 12:30 or something. This was also about the time the seagulls would begin circling en masse, waiting to find the goodies remaining in those wrapppers and in the stands ...

I would also like to thank everyone in this challenge. I only got out and did it once (just now getting over the poison ivy), but it was the most interesting photo shoot I've done in a long time. It was like being in another world for a few hours. All I've wanted to do is get out and do it again but my husband won't let me near the bushes or yard work. I find myself sneaking out to brush the dog and going on cameraless bug hunts. As soon as my itching stops I'm all over it!

And what a sweet lens it is... That MP 65 must be amazing for you to have chosen to sell this lovely piece of glass...

Well I bought the MP-E 65 for high magnification stuff, and also bought a 180MM macro that goes to 1:1 with a min working distance of 18 inches for more comfortable working distance with certain critters. Two specialized macro lens with different purposes. Works out well for me.

BTW am I still a Glass snob? And will you now become one. LOL
