You can buy cheap ones, but they aren't AF. Good ones will not leak light in, and will still allow AF functions of the lens. Cheap ones will just mount to the camera. |

It's been too crazy here for me this weekend to shoot macro. I went to a grad ceremony Sat morning in the Florida sun and humidity. I was setting up with a 400 mm to shoot from the fence, when the editor of the local news came by. I got corralled into shooting the event for the local newspaper since their photog could not be there. Fortunately, I had a medium zoom in my hip pouch/fanny pack. It was 375 handshake pix in 35 minutes, some general shots, some friend and family shots, then a birthday grad party in the early afternoon, then edit all the grad shots. I was done with all that by about dark. I didn't feel much like shooting today, so this one is from a while back. Maybe tomorrow will be a good day for macro.

I had to crop this because of unwanted stuff in the background. Even though I could line this up to my eyes with nothing but water behind it, the camera, on macro, insisted on seeing a whole lot more. Any way around this problem? |

With this camera you are limited to DOF that the camera will give you. With the super macro setting you would set it for f/2.8 and get as close as you can. Underexpose, and see what you can do in PP. I love this little camera but it does have it's limits.
This looks like it turned out pretty well. |

Found in my backyard tonight. I'm not sure what they second one is, I found a few of them attached to the underside of leafs just hanging there. I am assuming they are some sort of nymph of something. Going to post on another site and see if I can get an ID on it.

If you have a SuperMacro mode like my Canon, then it only works at the widest-angle lens setting. In the "regular" macro mode you can use the zoom, but can't get as close. With the accessory "close-up" lens I got, I could use the regular zoom mode to cut down the field of view, but still focus up close. |
