Ya know, admitting you have a problem is the first step toward recovery. We'll be looking forward to hearing your stories of how you got here, what leads you to use DPC, and how you feel afterwards...

Lousy coffee and stale cookies are in the back. :)

It wears off. Not sure when, though - I got addicted in 2004 and tried to quit several times. ...hmmm... what if it doesn't wear off?? What then???!! *sigh*

Are there any cookies left?

ROTFLMAO!!! You guys are nuts!

Here I sit... at 2 in the morning... still on DPC... my brain a flutter with ideas... my camera nestled in its cozy lil bed because its to dark to shoot and everyone is sleeping...

It's never to dark....set your camera up on bulb or long shutter speed and play with a desk lamp on an object.

If your camera has bulb setting, use that...otherwise use long shutter speeds.

Too dark to shoot? Oh no, go buy at least two and no more than seventy day light CFL bulbs... That'll fix your dark problem.. (You might want to get something to go between the bulbs and the outlet too...)

It's pretty normal to spend a lot of time on here when you first sign up. After a while it will settle down and you will only spend
15 hours a day here instead of 20....

;-)

What you are suffering from is known as DPC Disorder. Its a lot like OCD with a bit turrets thrown in along with mild doses of rage and an upset stomach now and again. A bit of advice... becareful not to develop a DPL Syndrome which is the elevated level of DPC disorder where the symptoms are more frequent and a lot stronger. Some people develop onsets of whining and bitching also. I am a recovering DPL'er. It's happened once a year for the past two years now. Not sure there's a cure- but I'm hopeful.

There is no help. Accept your fate. Welcome to the club.

I believe your camera can do 8 second exposure. That's plenty of time to have fun painting with light or whatever.

thanks, there is a small description on the drink in the photo notes on how that one was done. The car was done simply by composing my shot with the lights on in the garage, I'll have to see if I can bring up the aperture but I think it was around F11 so it wouldn't expose too fast, then being all dressed in black I shut the lights off and opened the shutter in 'Bulb' mode and proceded to walk down the side of the car while shining the flashlight where I wanted to highlight it. After I was done, simply shut off flash light and close the shutter and process the photo.

Maybe I should make proper tutorials on both these images :) might be fun to do and throw some video in there as well.
