Why?! This isn't Missed Focus I, this is Missed Focus II and the description was updated and modified. I'd suggest staying with the current challenge when considering the merits of photos in this challenge (granted they're similar for sure, but not exactly the same).

Missed Focus II
Challenge Description: "In some cases, having your subject be out of focus is desirable. Take a photo in which your main subject, at least, is out of focus. Other parts of your image may or may not be in focus."

My entire point was that there really isn't a difference between 'Out of focus' and 'Missed focus', and that even the first challenge didn't make any such distinction, nor did this challenge. So, people who are dropping low votes due to DNMC based on their own narrow interpretation of the challenge should consider any shot with an 'out of focus/missed focus' subject as meeting the challenge.

Challenges like this really benefit if we are more open to interpretation...but I think that goes for all the challenges. There is enough harshness in voting as it is...

For me...
You have rated 272 of 275 images (99%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 71 images (26%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 6.3235.

Good work everyone.

argh is right!! I keep running into photos where the focus is where it should be! That to have the other item in focus would be silly. But I like the shot...

If you got a comment, you haven't necessarily gotten a 9 or 10. If you didn't get a comment, you for sure didn't get a 9 or 10....

Way to go!! As blur is so underrated, I was glad to see it as a challenge subject. I didn't enter, but wow, did I enjoy voting. I gave 5 10's. I can't remember doing that in years. I predict it will be hard for some voters to give these the props they deserve as tack sharp tends to be the preference of many.

I thought this counted toward the DPL scores, but I guess I was wrong, since I saw one of my team mate's images. When does it start back up?

it appears that it does count for round 5:

Regular Season Round 5
May. 17th, 2010 - Jun. 2nd, 2010
Member Challenge: Missed Focus II - Open for voting.
Open Challenges: Peanuts - Open for submissions.
Other Art Forms - Open for submissions.

i'd check yours and their team membership?

It does count towards dpl. All my teammates images are removed.

I definitely admit to having a hard time voting! The only solid "rule" I've developed for myself so far is that if it hurts my eyes to look at, it doesn't get a good score.

It's been interesting to see that some blurry images are pleasing whereas others really do just cause eye strain.

After an initial pass of voting, I'll definitely have to go back and adjust the scores. An emphasis on blur turns one of the major DPC conventions on its head, to say nothing of my own, and for me, it's just too difficult to vote well to do it all in one go.

The score and comments on my "Missed Focus" image make me want to emulate "The Scream" Most of the negative comments suggest I "missed the focus". D'oh! My point is.... we have to laugh at ourselves, don't we?

I find it interesting how few votes there are at this point in the week. I already have more votes on my Other Art Forms entry. Seems that your average voter just can't get into voting on a bunch of blurry photos.
