I am a late starter today, as it is morning here in Australia, (9.40am) so just had my first cup of tea.
Much to early for a srtiff drink anyway.....
Have a good day everyone.....

How eas the birthday party Judi..... Mine in a couple of weeks, and really not looking forward to it, as I feel so much older this year that for sure.

I could use a strong one, I just started a 2 week stint of my least favorite type of cheffing.... actually you could not even call this cheffing. Its only basic cooking at its most dismal bottom. Thank goodness its only 2 weeks.

Now for that strong drink, do you have any recommendations?

oooh, I'd like to hear about this. I catered years ago to get me through college, debt free (LOL)

I'd love a vodka martini, up with olives and dirty.

I work for a very high end retirement community which also has a daycare (the idea being that all they children have TONS of grandparents and the retirees can volunteer to help in the daycare). It actually works quite well. and everyone involved loves it.

The man who cooks for the dayvare has been there 30 years, can you imagine the amount of vacation time he has accrued? Well when he goes on vacation, guess who gets to fill in for him?

Yup, me.

I understand why you are not looking forward to that - cutting the crust off the sandwichs can get boring ;)

Actually these kids eat very well, and I can be as creative as I want to be with the food..... its just that I did not get my Culinary degree to work in a daycare center. Besides, no matter how creative I get with the food, they still want catsup on everything. Keep in mind they are between 2 and 5 years old.

Does it have to be such a big production for you to grab a beer for me and then open it, pour it in a chilled glass, sit next to me for some conversation?
