There was one photo in particular I wanted to add to my list of examples. It is wideangle shot a a nerd walking through the school hallway proudly, with the jocks off to the side watching him. I should have put it in my faves and now can't recall who's pic it is. |

Well, if you don't want to play, the rest of us will just take our calculators and 8 sided dice and go elsewhere. At least I didn't suggest "wideangle landscapes XIV", or "Water drops VII". |

A new suggestion is better than a repeat, but if we're going to have "nerds", we may as well have "sissies", "fairies", and "gimps" too. Despite the concept being inexplicably tied into the whole computer expert/comic book fan milieu, I've known enough people devastated by the label into their adulthood to make this unseemly to me. |

How about calling it "Eccentric Qualities/Tendencies"? |

Just for general information (and fun) : people took pride in being called a nerd where I grew up. If one has to hide their true personality just to 'fit in the coolness', they are gonna suffer, no matter where they are ;-)
Spell check. Jut -> just, it -> fit.

Good grief. If people are "devastated" by labels, they have far worse problems than being nerds, geeks, etc.

I'm rather proud to be called a geek. My daughter is going to college to be a math teacher and she considers it high praise to be a "math nerd". True, the terms were derogatory at one time but that has changed. This is the proud and respected side of geektitude and nerdness. |

Thank you, voice of the mainstream. |
