i wanted to shoot using the flash but not have it on the camera ..

so i bought the GODOX XPROO TTL WIRELESS FLASH TRIGGER FOR OLYMPUS ..

my camera is the mirrorless Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III ..
and i have two electronic Flashes .. the Olympus FL-600R and the Olympus FL-900R ..

i have spent a lot of time trying to wirelessly connect the trigger to the flashes but its just not working ..

i cant find any videos on connecting the Godox to an Olympus flash .. they all seem to deal with other flash systems ..

if anyone can point me to a tutorial or video on how to connect these two devices i would be endlessly grateful ..

thankyou .. :)

I don't think they work with the Olympus flashes -- it's a trigger that's meant for the Olympus camera, but is assuming you're using the Godox flashes. (that's just my guess -- I could be completely wrong -- I use the Godox trigger for Sony with Godox flashes. (which are really nice flashes, btw)

looked at the compatibility listed on B&H

thanks so much Wendy ..
The crazy thing is it's the Godox trigger for Olympus ..

now I've read your comment it makes more sense .. of you're correct and you probably are ..

but they should be more clear ..

for Olympus cameras but not Olympus flashes ..

probably cheaper to get the trigger for Olympus flashes than to get the Godox flash ..

I really like the Godox V1 flash Scroll down and see the accessory set you can buy for it. It's an awesome flash and it has a modeling light, which is superb for placement, etc.

I'd never been excited by a flash before, but I own two of the V1s and absolutely love them.

edited to add - the accessories are magnetic, so no screwing things on or velcroing them on.

just a really quick look at the link ..

my very first thought was .. I love that the head is a circle .. and not rectangular like my Olympus and Canon ones are ..

The reflection of the oly and Canon flashes you see in eyes and water droplets is quite unpleasant lol ..

I might be sold on that alone .. ;)

now to see how much ..

A couple of things.

First, for Olympus, the only flash that works directly with the Olympus wireless transmitter is the FL700-WR. To use any of the other Olympus flashes with the wireless transmitter, you will need to purchase the FR-WR Receiver for each flash. None of the other Olympus flashes have a wireless receiver in them. FYI, the receiver is $230. This means you are really better off just buying the FL700-WR flash vs. buying a receiver for each of your Olympus flashes.

Second, the advantage of going with something like Godox is cross-brand compatibility. So, if you put the flash directly on the camera, you will need one of the Godox flashes designed for that brand of camera. Where the system shines and is great for people with multiple camera systems or who switch systems is I can put the Godox transmitter for Olympus on my OM1, and it will trigger any of the Godox flashes. If I happened to have a Godox flash designed for Canon or Nikon, my Godox transmitter would fire any of them. I only have one flash that is for Olympus. The rest of mine are for Canon or Nikon, or Sony. When I wanted to expand and have more flashes, I just bought whatever I could find on the used market for the cheapest.

I work as Northern Lights Photography guide in the winter and we use the Godox AD200 for our portraits. Each guide has a Godox transmitter for their camera and any of us can use the same AD200. I am a huge fan of Godox. It works very well and is really pretty cheap for what you get.

have a great week .. :)

Oh cool! Let me know what you think! Did you get the modifiers with it? I do love the magnetic connection for the diffuser and the modifiers

Glad you found it helpful. Which flash did you end up getting?
04/26/2023 06:20:24 PM · #12
i got the Godox V1-O Round Head Li-ion TTL HSS Master Speedlight Flash for Olympus and Panasonic ..
i've only taken a couple of shots with it in the house of my dog a little while ago .. just to test it out ..

but i'm loving how i get a beep when its ready to fire again .. thats a massive plus ..

its a LOT heavier than my olympus FL-900R Flash .. so i'll have to get used to the extra weight ..
when i was shooting with the Canon 5d series full frame with the added flash it would probably been a comparable weight to the the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III that i'm shooting with now and the added Godox ..

good thing i started going to the gym this week after a diagnosis of osteoporosis and a back fracture .. ;)

i've still to wirelessly connect it to the godox trigger .. but i'm not expecting any problems ... i'll come back to this thread if i do . !! . ;)
