The two week challenge submission is excellent if you're travelling, like I am at the moment, but I don't think it's made much of a difference in the number of entries Per challenge. Well maybe if the challenge is interesting but lately the challenges have been very obscure and far too many extended editing challenges. I'm waiting out to the end of the year and then I will only enter what takes my fancy. I can't see myself being a regular member any more though!
People keep saying this place hasn't changed but it has, you'll be lucky to get two comments on a ribbon entry these days and then the post Challenge comments are at a record low numbers.

Just out of curiosity, how many comments do you make per challenge? |

I like the two time period. There were a lot of times in the pass when I really wanted to enter a challenge because I had a great idea but needed a bit more time to pull it off or to make a trip to specific location. |

I'm finding, as time goes on, that this two week window isn't working for me in the sense that I don't go out with my camera nearly as often as I used to. I tend not to be too fussy with my entries so it's possible to go out, take a lot of pictures, figure out which of several challenges to put them in and then forget about it for the next couple of weeks.
Of course there are exceptions; when it's either a topic I'm particularly inspired by or a topic that requires putting ideas together, but the net effect is that I'm losing touch with the community. I'm not online as much. I forget what I entered. I forget to share. Heck, I even forgot to enter the snapshot minimal challenge that I really did try to shoot for!
I'm wondering if anybody else is in the same boat and can offer suggestions.

The two week submission period has slowed the pace of the site. It has elongated the rhythm cycle. It's not uncommon for me to procrastinate on photography... waiting for better conditions or more significant opportunities... which rarely come along. It was much better when a challenge idea was suggested and we picked up the camera to capture something. We often found serendipitous events. The two week period often truncates the sense of urgency to photograph on a frequent basis. The number of challenge entries don't seem to be trending higher. Frequency of visits to DPC by me is less.
Most importantly, the reduction in the DPC urgency to photograph forces me to change my focus to other photo websites and other projects. I would be the first to admit that the diversification phenomenon is probably good for me... but not necessarily good for DPC. |

The main thing for me is that it seems to of messed up the TPL/DPL and Myself & plenty of others enjoyed playing the team game.
There has been no talk of running DPL again and this is very sad for me.
I would like to see the site return to the 1 week, fewer challenges and have the DPL running again as was promised. |

I would like to have DPL back again too. At the same time I love 2 weeks fornthe submission, the only way I have to submit images lately. |

I lost the impetus when the two weeks went into effect. When I shot early during the submission period, I didn't care nearly as much when the voting started. And I shoehorned more-with so many challenges, it was easier to find a challenge in which to stick outtakes. I'm happier with the one week, but I'm trying to get back entering again. I do think we are getting a few more entries this way. It's too bad we can't have some with one and some with two: but that would get too confusing. Though I'd love to see one week regular and minimal and two weeks for extended. :)
It is a real shame that it affected dpl. And I do think the two week would be way too long for dpl. Even though it doesn't extend it by more than a week, again the 3 week from beginning to end doesn't really give you that urgency to get out and get shooting. |

But I'd rather have dpl -2 weeks or 1- than not have it |

Me too... the DPL is why I used to go out and shoot, now I sit in the kitchen and shoot whatever :( |

Exactly, so the new 2-week time frame works better for me. The increased number of challenges means more to choose from, and I try to be selective, and more to the point with stuff like Extended challenges, I actually have the luxury of the time I need to figure out what I need to do in PS.
As for the DPL, I was never really involved in it so can't say I miss it that much. |

It would involve taking away a member-only challenge each week -- people who have paid "for two challenges a week" might feel cheated. Personally, I'd be fine with one Open and one Member challenge each week (plus the monthly FSs) ... |

Luckily there is nothing in the FAQ that claims membership includes 2 "paid" challenge per week :)

I like the longer time frame and the longer list to choose from. More choices are usually better in most circumstances. And I agree, lets get DPL back again! That really helps to make me grow as an artist. And I love the interaction with the team. |
