I have been playing around with the GIMP editor and seem to have come across a huge stumbling block... I use the FILE INFO in Photoshop for a lot of things and it seems that the GIMP doesn't have an equivalent... I use the TITLE, DESCRIPTION, and KEY WORDS fields in photoshop's file info... Does anyone know if the GIMP supports this?

You may be able to save what you want in the Image, image properties, and comments. Not sure if it'll work as you are used to with Photoshop. |

Assuming Photoshop is using IPTC tags to store this information, then unfortunately GIMP doesn't support IPTC tags and looses them from jpeg files on loading, and can't save them.
There is an external tool:- Exiftool, that apparently can be used to edit the tags, but GIMP can't do it natively.

Yes, GIMP per my experiences unfortunately looses the IPCT tags.
I use Digicam on Linux to add the IPCT tags when done with editing a file.
exiv2 can be used to extract IPCT tags from a picture to a text file and also IPCT tags from a text file to an image (also on Linux). |
