..."IS" the Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens 10-22mm on a 1.6 crop camera? I know the -S lenses don't work (or I have been told) on full frame cameras so I'm a little confused. On my 40D will it be 10-22mm or 16-35mm taking in account the 1.6x crop factor?
Sorry for such a question but I'm thinking of purchasing this lens and want a super wide zoom.
Thanks in advance

16-35mm
Even though they won't work on a FF camera, they don't take into account the multiplier when advertising the lens. |

That's true of ANY lens. Even on a P&S camera, the specs will be listed as 4.6-17mm (or whatever) because that is the focal length of the lens.
10-22 is the widest rectilinear lens available for the 40D. Anything wider will be a fisheye. |

Thanks...I guess I would have to go to a fish-eye lens to get a wider range. But I guess the 10-22mm would be the best without distorting the image to bad. I have also been looking at the Tokina 10-20 f/4. |

| The Tokina 10-20 is a fisheye, though not by much. |

| The Tokina 10-17 is a fisheye. Tokina doesn't make a 10-20mm lens. Sigma does, but it's not as good as the Canon. FWIW, the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 looks very interesting. |

wow, just had a quick look on ebay and it's already available and not even much more expensive than the prior 12-24 f4 (which i'm selling btw, so if you're interested drop me a pm). |
