I'm sure most of you are familiar with the Strobist. So I've been wanting to go the strobist route. Well, right at the end of my local camera club's Best of 07 show at a local gallery, I had a sale of one of my prints! So tue. my Sunpak 383 came, and today (wed), my Cactus V2S triggers arrived! Sucked that I had to go to work tonight :-(
But, I've been home, and playing around with my new toys! I couldn't hardly wait for Sheila and Tucker Rose to wake up. She said I'm like a giddy little school boy :-) I go running in the bedroom, saying "Look, Look! Check this out!" (hand the flash to Tucker) "HOld this!" then run across the room...click/flash! "See that! Isn't that cool!" (blank looks) Grab it and run around the house, firing the flash at stuff, exclaiming "Sweet!" "Awesome!" after every click. :-)
Now I just can't wait to set up a real shoot to start practicing. Bruce is getting agitated with me trying to corner him and firing the flash at him :-) |

Congrats on the new equipment! Have you tried the trigger on camera yet? I had to learn that once I connected the trigger to the hotshoe, the reliability went down 50%.
I did get the same blank looks when I got home with the triggers though :) |

I think mine have only "not fired" once, and that may have been 'cos my battered old SB24 had not recycled yet...
Mine pop randomly now and again, but I find them awesome for the money they cost. |

Aye I agree, I've used mine day in day out for a lot or work and have been totally surprised with their reliability. I had the lights set up on New Years eve for about 6 hours with only 1 misfire when the flash didn't recycle fast enough.
For the money they're awesome little things. I got 3 of them and plan on getting a couple more. |

Grats - I have to admit that my experiments with those cheapo triggers wasn't very good - way too many misfires to be useful, and on some days it would just fire the flash repeatedly and randomly (even when nowhere near the tx).
I've literally just bought the Canon ST-E2 speedlite transmitter to replace it (cheaper than pocket wizards, better than ebay I hope).
Good luck with yours...
N
p.s. mine are also the 'TM' or v2.0
p.p.s. the new Calumet catalogue was in today's post - they have Calumet branded radio triggers for about 100 GBP for the rx and tx unit, additional rx units at 50. Quality and cheap....wish I'd known about this yesterday!
