Well that didn't take long :)

Although I am excited they took my suggestion, it totally backfired on me. I am moving away from the beach and an hour from Lake Tahoe with the north fork of the American River right in my backyard(Auburn, CA). It was my plan for this challenge to show up while I was living there. :P But I don't move until Sunday so that ain't gonna work, LOL!
Still going to be a fun challenge I think, but now with HDR all over.

This will be round 2 of the LOD, I'm quite excited we have some very cute streams around here.
Good suggestion.

I have access to some very lovely (not) drainage ditches. I'm thinkin' that may not go over well here. Ah well. I'll wait for the next challenge!

Obviously an HDRT challenge. No chance if you don't use it.

How did you arrive at this conclusion?
I can bet the front page will not be full of HDR images more likely long exposures of flowing streams over rocks.... maybe?

Go for it!!

Okay, It's a bet. BTW, you can combine a long exposure with your HDRT images, can't you?

Forgive my ignorance but what does the "T" in HDRT mean?

I think you can do that yes...

Not really a gambler (unless frilly panties are involved) but my point was that 'just because they introduce new rules does not mean that the now legal multiple HDR images will be triumphant. I use a lot of HDR but I also kind of prefer the natural look too, I'm just not very good at it.

Lots of subject matter for me. Perhaps a little too much choice! This will be a fun one for me.

I like this challenge. The rivers and streams should be roaring about now. It's 53 degrees F here (might get up to 60) today and we had much snow. All that melted snow makes a wild river or stream. There isn't much color though. My shots will probably look B/W.

You're not alone...what the heck does it stand for?

Did a quick search on DPC Forums and in the last couple of weeks it came up in the below linked thread, but it's buried in 20 pages of posts...I'm not hunting it down in there. :)

technique ?

IT is where you take a load of images over a long time and put them together as a complete scene fading or transitioning across time... and it is HDTR and not HDRT:

I completely disagree.

I, too, disagree. People are so spooky about HDTR I'm getting knocked about it on my December free style!

Can we mod the challenge to be rivers, streams, and suage runnoffs?
01/07/2008 10:16:23 AM · #22
This is actually good timing for me. We have had 3 days of thawing + some heavy rain, Most of the rivers and streams around here are starting to open up again.

Are you allowed to combine exposures of different lengths?

Can't remember anything in the news rules saying you can't. So, its HDRI meets Milky Waters then lol?
