First...I am sorry if there is already a thread started about this - I searched the forums and didn't see one, but if there is, could someone kindly direct me towards it?

Ok...I am a little excited today. My entry in the Green Challenge is my personal best so far in score and placement. I was reading the comments through the challenge and watching the score and new it was going to be my best score so far but had no idea it was going to place as high as it did. I want to thank everyone who voted and commented on my photo!

Also wanted to post my outtakes from the challenge. I spent a day at the Botanical Gardens for the challenge and had a couple different options of what to submit. Obviously I think I ulitmately picked the right one, but still wanted to see what everyone thought of the other options I had available:

Mine finished maybe slightly less than I may of expected, but not much!

This was my entry

These were the two outtakes I was playing with. They have a little more PP.

Your right Makka, I thought yours would finish a little bit better as well. It is very nice, and was voted into my top 25.

Here is my original and the outtakes.

the one I didn't think had enough green in it, and the second, well mom said no.

I love the 2nd one! Toss up between that and your entry! Top shots!

This is what I entered:

one of my biggest scoring disappointments.

Here is a faux outtake. The same shot with a different crop done in black and white.

I would've scored that at least 2 points higher.

That one would've been awesome for the challenge, without the bars ;)
but they do add an interesting element.

I can't believe how many times I hear a comment asking the photographer to remove my favorite thing about a picture.

So why did I enter the one I did? It was my most emotional one of all. As I took the pics, I was sitting under a tree with rain all around me, and the way the drops were hitting the water, and the way the waterbugs were creating rings, I had such a sense of well being and joy at that picture, and such a sense of oneness with the secrets of nature. So because it moved me the most, that is the one I entered. It was what I felt was a type of zen moment. Simple and what I thought was beautiful.
My entry

Didn't enter this one ... went with Unexpected Find ... and that entry could have easily been squeezed in here.

The family liked that last one. I would have entered the second one.

As always, comments much appreciated.

against my origional "Waves of Green", which came 15th. out of 460 entries.

"Pinwheel Agave", which is my only "outtake" re the "Green" challenge entry. I think it has a wonderful paintly feel to it. It reminds of one of the "whirlie" toys, one gets to buy at the annual shows, which move with the wind, like a windmill.

This was another macro out-take for my green challenge. I really love the shot, but I thought id get hammered for the limited DOF, but the little guy was about 1mm long!

Photo is great, DOF makes it so. I would question the "Green" aspect, but still would have voted high.
