Here's two I almost submitted for Still Life II. Thoughts? Any comments are appreciated. Thanks!

I personally considered flower close-ups to be DNMC. Doing a macro on a single item just doesn't fit the spirit of a still life, imho. I would have scored the clamps better, though I would have subtracted a little for the lack of background, which makes it seem more like a "studio" shot. For me there's a subtle difference between a still life and a studio shot, even though both are normally in a controlled environment. (to use my biased terminology, studio shots have no soul)

I have to ask...and this certainly isn't the first time it's happened...but seriously, what's the deal with posting in someone's "individual photograph discussion" thread with your own stuff and completely ignoring the OP's post? |

Fair point. Personally, I noticed the title and not the forum type. I'll make a point to backtrack. ;^) |

I don't mean to pick on you specifically...it seems to happen every time someone posts an individual photo thread. |

Took a peek and left some comments. Personally, the flower shot does not appear to be in focus and not really a still life IMO. The clamp shot is cute, and a little gimmicky - however, based on the final results of the challenge it probably would have done ok with the voters. My 2 cents. ;^) |

Not a problem. I wasn't sure which forum to post the topic, but was actually hoping it would become a thread of outtakes. I personally find the feedback valuable and hope others can get some too. |
