We were out for a drive yesterday looking at houses and saw this guy in a marsh off of the river. Couldn't get very close since it was marsh and neither hubby or I were wearing apprpriate shoes. This was shot with my 45-150mm lens and cropped a great deal obviously. But this is as good as I could get it. Does anybody know what it is?

and here he is in flight a LONG ways out.

it's like he's got the body of a turkey buzzard and the head of a falcon. We thought he was a bald eagle from our distance and realized he was not when I uploaded these and zoomed in.

This is an Osprey.

Well I'll be darned. I've seen my first osprey lol. He was HUGE!

I've seen a few hawks and falcons around here and there is one in our neighborhood that I THOUGHT was an osprey, but he's not nearly this big.

I concur with Osprey.

Definitely an Osprey. I am very familiar with them since we have plenty of them here in South Florida. They prey on the fish in the lake behind by house.

Sorry to go off topic here, but am I the only one who's seeing all that noise in the images?

It's a long zoom with a major crop, noise is to be expected. You're not the only one that sees it, you're the only one that hasn't just ignored it as being a result of the circumstances.

Like I said in the original post had to use a 45-150mm lense and we were a LONG ways off. Here are the originals. Thank you for the noise notice though. I knew it was there and was not looking for a critique on my photos. I only wanted to know what the large bird was.
